Center Armrest

Has anyone noticed that the passenger side seat rubs against the center armrest causing some squeaking noises between the two surfaces? Anybody figure out what is wrong with it. I think it might be the side bolster of the seat is a bit off because it seems like the center console is centered properly. Let me know your thoughts guys.

Re: Center Armrest

Is your's a 11 or 12? Mine 11 has enough room for my hand to fit between the console and seats.

Re: Center Armrest

I've got a 2012. Mine's not touching, but I cannot get a hand between the seat and the console.

Re: Center Armrest

Mine has about an inch of clearance between passenger side bolster and arm rest. Driver's side bolster has about 1.5-1.75" clearance from arm rest.

I have a 12 and also have room to fit my hand between the seat and the console on both sides.

Re: Center Armrest

I have a '12 bought in December 2011. Mine started this about 3 weeks ago. I have also developed a popping in my steering column or dash when making turns like in parking lots.

Re: Center Armrest

Yeah I have a 12 that has a hands width to get in on the driver's side and the passenger side is rubbing. I have also got a popping when going over speed bumps in the steering wheel. You can feel like something is loose. Looks like the spacing is not normal and will have the dealer look at it when I get my first oil change.

Re: Center Armrest

Brewster did you ever get yours looked by the dealership yet. I have the same problems as you. What do you guys think could be out of alignment and obviously this is not acceptable. I live in a place where they love brick roads over pavement and it rubs all the time causing an annoying squeaking noise. Let me know what you think.

Re: Center Armrest

I don't have this problem but it seems to be a lot of differentiation between vehicles on fitment. This tells me that there is probably a lot of adjustment in the mountings of seats, etc. And if this is the case, your seat could be loosened on the mountings and moved over enough to eliminate the rubbing.

As modern vehicles get quieter these types of issues become much more identifiable. My past vehicle was an 07 Expedition and it was quieter overall than my new Jeep. Ford put a of of refinement into materials and fitment that the Jeep lacks. For instance, in the rear 3-section seat, a vinyl seat side would be up against a cloth panel on the adjacent seat. And all seat belt buckles had fabric coverings where they rubbed against the plastic side panels or leather seat surfaces.
