Center Console Arm Rest Torn

Hey all been a while since I posted...mostly because everything has been going well on my 2014 gc limited. However about 1.5 yrs in the arm rest tore from wear and tear is my guess. I was pretty miffed about it tearing so soon but the dealer refused to fix it under warranty. I was wondering if any of you have had similar issues and what the most cost effective way to fix it is? I think the dealer wanted ~$300 or so just for the part.

Check with an auto upholstery shop and see if they can fix you up.

Re: Center Console Arm Rest Torn

I would call Customer Care and file a complaint for a replacement. That's total BS.

What happened to your btb warranty ? Your dealer is a schmuck and is trying to rip you off !!!!! That part and everything else is covered ..... That dealer needs to be put out of business, go to another dealer ... PLEASE ... geez

I've never had a dealer hassle me about anything inside the warranty period.
I've even got free wiper blade replacements.
The only thing that stinks is the brake warranty only good for 12 months or 12,000 miles, but for me the 12 months will come first ....

They should replace the armrest and then you should get the cover from just for jeeps ( I got 2 so I already have a back up.... )

Re: Center Console Arm Rest Torn

From the picture it looks like it was torn by something, not by wearing out. Without seeing it in person it is hard to tell.

"If" you tear something, it wouldn't be a warranty item.

If you need to deal with it yourself, you can go to a junkyard. A decent yard that doesn't have it should be able to locate it.

The suggestion above to go to an upholstery shop is an excellent idea.

Center Console Arm Rest Torn

Just from my own experiences, "wear and tear" is NEVER covered by any warranty. And that tear looks to be extreme wear and tear. Your elbow must be gigantic, heavy and wiggling around in that spot constantly. Never seen anything like it.
