Changing out door handles.

Hey guys. Need your opinion on a handle swap. I have the chance to get a complete set of 4 exterior handles from a 2012 SRT. Price would be around 220.00. May need paint but I could do that and I probably would try to install myself. Is the 220.00 a good deal? Is there anything that can go wrong with these? I have the passive entry feature as well. Thanks for your help.

Re: Changing out door handles.

$220 for a different paint seems a bit steep. You can find the front handles with OEM paint on ebay, at around $80 / pcs and the rears at $60 / pcs , totalling at $280 .

2nd option, you can also go get them from Justforjeeps.com example of black : 2014 WK2 Brilliant Black Door Handles (PXR) #WK2PXRHandles

Third option to search the parts # for each handle on Quirk Auto Parts | OEM & Aftermarket Car, Truck, SUV, & Van Parts and Accessories and buy them.

Re: Changing out door handles.

If you are going to spend $220 on a used pair that you still may need to paint, I would just spend the extra $$$ and buy a brand new set. As mentioned above, JustForJeeps has them but their products are typically more expensive than if you just search around the web (even with the JeepGarage promo codes). QuirkParts, AllMoparParts have them for ~$300 - I got a quote from AllMoparParts for like $315 with free shipping.

Another option that has popped up in a few posts recently are the handle covers. Alber/T posted some nice pics and I believe another user just got a set as well. I have a pair I ordered yesterday to toy with before I decide to buy a full set/swap of OEM color matched ones, or try to make the covers work. $40 ain't bad to see if you like the look or want to try to paint them. Re: Changing out door handles.

Yea I do have the black covers and waiting for the weather to break so I can put them on. They do look nice but some chrome is showing when installed. I may vinyl wrap the exposed areas and see how that turns out. The used ones are all black and may only need to be buffed out. Wasn't sure how much new ones were that's why I asked if 220.00 was a good deal. I need the front ones to have the passive entry buttons though. Thanks for the input guys.

Did they just come out with those black gloss handle overlays on ebay? I was looking for something like that for the longest time, but decided to just wrap them in vinyl.

Re: Changing out door handles.

I think so along with mirror covers. You can even buy them together on eBay.
I found that out after ordering them separately.
