Choices!

New guy here. This will be my first ever Jeep. Dumping a 98 isuzu trooper to get a 12 Overland. Anyway i am having the toughest time with color choices. I know its a personal choice but would you guys go with the Mineral Gray with Saddleback interior or the Maximum Steel with the Beige Frost interior. I just wanted to get the pros and cons of each if there are any. Thanks. Glad my first post is in the books!

Re: Choices!

Many having wear issues with the Saddle interior. My last SUV was Beige and showed dirt (and when/if the leather cracks, it shows bigtime).

That is why I got the black leather interior. Wears well and does not show dirt. Just my 2 cents and personal preference.

By the way, I no longer have kids or dogs. I don't let the kids put the grandkids carseats in my GC - that's what their minivans are for (and thank God, no more minivans for me either...).

Re: Choices!

I have saddle. 8000 miles , 6 months and I use a jeep towel seat cover. It still is wearing quickly. I use the lowered vehicle height to get out of most of the time. Its not horrible looking but you can see some wear especially where the driver slides in and out. and I'm worried what another 6 months is going to look like. And I haven't gotten in and out with heavier winter clothes yet.

I would go with black. I wouldn't chance that lighter color either.

If I have a chance to trade in mine ( another story ) I would only go with black interior even if it meant to wait. It is beautiful tough.

Just my 2 cents. I'll try and take a pic tomorrow. there are pics in these threads somewhere of others with the same.

Re: Choices!

I have Maximum Steel with the Black interior and I love it so far. Have had no signs of wearing either in 3,000 miles of use. The maximum steel does a pretty good job of hiding dirt I think and I like how it kind of changes colors a little depending on how much sun is out.

Re: Choices!

I have the Mineral Gray with Black interior, like it so far. I wanted black just because some of the other interiors just had too many colors going on.

Re: Choices!

I have a 2012 Overland with saddle interior and mineral grey exterior. Amazing combination!!!! Not sure what all this talk is about seat wearing. I have about 4,000 miles (I know its not much), but my seat shows zero signs of wear. Infact my interior looks identical to the day it came off the lot. Granted im anal with my cars, but still its perfect. I know people with the wear issues will probably hate this, but I still blame it on the owner. The only way something can wear like they describe is if something has been rubbing against it excessively. Dont beat the heck out of your side bolsters when you get in and out and your problem is solved. Ok guys flame away :-)
As for the beige interior, it looks great, but as others have said unless you are a clean and neat freak it will show dirt marks very easily.

Even though I do like beige, my vote would go to either all black, or saddle/black.

James

Lol no flame but gosh darn I'm using a towel seat cover, lowering the vehicle and seat before getting out... Any more anal and I'd have to fart my way out of the seat without touching the leather lol. I'm wondering if sidesteps would help this. I did noticed that where the seat cover touches the frame is a material and not leather. It actually looks real durable.

Ditto. I originally thought I wanted the Mineral Gray, but after seeing one of them with dust in the sun, it looked very brown and not satisfying. The Maximum Steel OTOH did a much better job at hiding the dust. I still love the MG most of the time - it's a very classy color - but I think the MS is one step above it.

As for the interior, if I was forced to choose between the two options you have, I'd go with the Frost color. That with the MS exterior screams luxury. I'm not a fan of the Saddle at all.

Just my opinion of course... You won't be disappointed with any WK2 you get!

Re: Choices!

I would go with the mineral grey and black interior. I personally prefer the laredo as it has no leather. Leather looks bad when it starts to get creases etc.

Re: Choices!

I love the saddle but had to go with black. Just easier. The Jeep leather is awesome. Nice and thick. My C6 vette leather is the cheapest looking garbage ever.

Re: Choices!

Black leather is HOT & DUSTY! Not sure why anyone would want a black leather interior. In the summer they are REALLY HOT! Used to take the kids to the beach and we couldn't get in the older Jeep for 20 minutes while we stood outside and get the AC run. And while black may not show dirt and grime like the light frost beige, it looks "dusty" very easily. Ever notice how hour black or darker colored Jeep always looks dirty? For me I'll take a leader clean to the beige every few months rather than suffer a black interior.

That's why I have remote start and Air conditioned seats. When it comes down to it, any leather is going to be really hot when it is 140 degrees inside the car. Cloth is the way to go if you don't like hot or cold seats.
