Chrome wrap Gloss vs Matte

I had the chrome window trim on my 2016 High Altitude wrapped in Gloss Black Vinyl. It came out perfect and looks great. It seems like the surface, however,is very susceptible to light scratches. I left a line when my fingernail accidentally brushed up against a section while cleaning the windows. I see other striations that look like they were from a microfibre drying cloth after washing the vehicle. I looked on line and it was suggested that heat from a gun or from the sun would fade these out and it did to a great degree. I did not expect the wrap to be that prone to scratching. I was told by the installer that the gloss black was the best choice and only top quality 3M products were used. I wonder if it would have been more durable in a matte black vinyl. Any experience, suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Chrome wrap Gloss vs Matte

Ehh the only thing that you might not see as much of with matte wrap would be the fine scratches or swirl marks. The gloss black is similar to paint and the fine scratches can be reduced by waxing it just like any other surface.
I think you made the right choice going with gloss black as that would match the vertical pillars. Matte finish would clash with the gloss black sections. Not only that but every other surface on the vehicle is gloss as well so I personally feel a matte finish doesn't go well.

Re: Chrome wrap Gloss vs Matte

That was my logic as well, about the finish choice.
thanks
