Collinite Fans, need advice

I recently bought Collinite 476s And 845 Insulator. Which of these would be best for Summer?

You can't go wrong with either. I've never used 476, but some claim it has a slight edge in durability over 845. I love 845 --except for the awful odor. If they could add some pleasant scents, it would be near perfect. I don't use my 845 often -- just because I have others that are easier to work with, and smell good .

I would go with 845. I am a #915 fan myself.

Re: Collinite Fans, need advice

Well I went ahead and tried both on two sections of the Overland. the 476 is a paste wax and it went on easily. I let it dry to a haze. Then I buffed it out with clean cloths. It wasn't the easiest wax to buff out. It left mild white powder, not a lot. The result was good with some greasy film.

The 845 is a semi liquid and it went on very easily. It dried to a haze quickly and was very easy to remove. Very little residue was left behind. The shine was deep and there was no greasy film.

All in all I liked the 845 better. Although the 476 was pretty good.

You will get more milelage out of the 476. The 845 probably took about 1/6th of a bottle to do the Overland. The tin of 476 was barely dented.

I think you put on way too much/heavy if you used that much 845. As thin as possible is the best for 845.

Re: Collinite Fans, need advice

I noticed that some of the 845 spilled on the driveway. So I did in fact use less.

Make sure to heat up the 845 before using it. I usually put the bottle in a cup of warm water until it is a pure liquid. 845 goes a long way very little should be used on a panel.

Re: Collinite Fans, need advice

With the 476 I never let it dry to a haze, I apply one section at a time and wipe off immediately. It can be a real bear to deal with if you let it dry.

Won't find another carnuaba with that kind of durability though...

Same with #915
I have found when I use my Flex 3401(I have heard it is the same with other DA's as well) it goes on more thinly so removing it with a MF bonnet over a firmer pad is much easier.
