Color Match Side View Mirrors

Anyone change their chrome side view mirrors (Limited, Overland, Summit) to match the color of their vehicle? What was the process and how much did it cost?

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

Lots of threads here on the subject since many have done it. Some plasti dip, some paint, and others like me got a set of color matched from a vehicle that comes with it.

In my case the body shop we deal with knows all the parts I want since I pester them all the time. When a new Jeep came in that wanted chrome mirror caps they gave me the blacks that came off instead of tossing them like they would normally do.

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

i'm in the process of doing that now.

i bought one used one on ebay for $30 (mineral gray) and the other side i also got on ebay new from a dealership in NJ.

the used one had a couple paint chips on it so i took to a body shop along with the rear bumper step pad to get sprayed.

I'll be installing this weekend.

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

Purchased a set of Laredo/altitude mirrors online that were a color match. I personally didn't go the ebay route because all the ones on eBay were $100+ Each and cracked/chipped. Paying to get them repainted would have cost about the same as the $140 I spent for each brand new one. Swapped the caps and plan to sell the chrome caps and mirrors back on eBay or here if anyone is interested >_<

How difficult was it to do yourself? Those photos made me nervous as hell just looking at them. I'd be scared of breaking on of the clips or shattering the mirror

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

Attached a PDF instruction page - had this saved from somewhere else on the forums. Think it was posted in the DIY Threads? Either way this may help!

You need to put some force behind pulling the mirror out/off, but it is fairly sturdy and should not break.

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

its easy... but luckily i had the luxury of trying it first on the mirrors i bought online that i'm not even using. so when i did it on my truck it went fast.

taking off the mirror was the only thing that worried me before i even did it on the test mirrors. they wont break off even though it may sound like it lol

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

Where is everyone finding their color match mirrors? Ive tried ebay, craigslist, and google to find maximum steel colored mirrors with no luck.

Any specific website I should be exploring?

I ended up buying mine from quickparts.com. I've used them quite a bit and they typically give quotes fairly low compared to other places. Essentially I emailed them with the the part I was looking for. They ask for a VIN # and you need to give them the VIN# of the model/make for the part you are looking for. IE if you want color matched mirrors, email them (or fill out the part inquiry online) with the VIN # for a random laredo/altitude in the color you want. They find the part and mail you a quote.

My mirrors were ~$140 each. I paid it because the EBay ones were all expensive as hell and had cosmetic damage to them.

Re: Color Match Side View Mirrors

got mine from ebay

one was used for $30

the other, new for $150. Originally this one was 185 but I asked them if they would come down on the price because i only needed the cap and they did.

Ill have to keep my eye on ebay. I called up my local jeep dealer asking about painting. All they said was they needed the VIN to color match and that it shouldnt be more than $150. Ill have to double check with them and see how long it would take.

PS- I would have burned that jeep if I found the spider on the side view. Can never be too sure
