Plus this model has brushed aluminum accents instead of the gold, which I like better. I looked at the all black in the Summit too and they are all really nice , really can't go wrong.

I got the Summit, which is awesome but to be honest, I like the Overland better. The Summit is slightly too "blingy" If you must get either of the ones you stated, the Granite is my fav. Let's face it though, they're all cool looking.
Can I ask then why you got the summit if you liked the overland better?

At the time, I thought some of the higher end stuff would appeal to me, but now that I have the benefit of hindsight, I realize that I don't really like the wheels on the Summit and the stereo and headliner aren't worth the extra money.

Also, I wanted the Quadra Drive II and the Overland they had, didn't have it, but I could have gotten it the next day so in summary the answer is stupidity.

We're talking minor difs, they are both really nice.

Re: Color opinions

Based on my experiences in an endless stream of rental cars, I was 100% sure I would not get a black interior, ever. In looking at all the pictures on the web and even peeking inside a couple of GC's I was certain I would do the Light Frost Beige. But when my wife and I did a couple of test drives, just a little time inside the black interior of an Overland and I am now going to go with the black. The white piping breaks up the black and I really like the color of the metal and wood trim in the black interior. And now I won't get the black marks along the edge of the door where my shoes scrape across the door frame getting in and out of my wife's Outback which has a beige interior. For the exterior I am torn between Max Steel, Granite, and Silver......

Right now the HK stereo is really pulling me toward the summit (the adaptive headlights are nice too). Sound quality is really important to me. Are you impressed with the HK sound?

HK stereo sounds great, don't judge it though using sirusXM maybe it is me but the quality of the SXM seems not as good compared to SD. I have heard that SXM compresses their music to much. Not an HK issue is an SXM issue. Put some songs on an SD card and crank it up

Re: Color opinions

never EVER judge a car stereo based on sxm audio!

sxm variety is good, and lack of chatter is good, but sound quality is horrible.

If you are gonna go test-drive WK2 stereos, bring your own SD card of music.

Oh, just MHO of course

Yes you guys are correct. SXM is overly compressed due to the limited satellite bandwidth, and generally speaking the sound quality is poor in any system. I am curious though if those of you who have had the HK system for a while now are impressed with the sq when using a high quality source (ie SD card with quality files). I haven't had the opportunity to test the summit audio system yet, but that HK sound system is the single biggest reason I am considering the summit.

I have had my summit since April and yes I think the HK sound is great when it comes from a good source. Good sound plenty of bass that's why I don't understand when I see people ripping it out trying to get more out of it ?? but to each his own I guess. I am in my 40s and don't feel the need to shake the whole neighborhood when I go down the street but I do like to turn it up sometimes and it is just fine for me.

Thanks so much for the response! Glad to hear it. I, too, am not about thump, but instead sound quality that includes the entire frequency range.

Re: Color opinions

With an iPod, the sound is very rich. I listen to a wide variety of styles. Classical is amazing, Opera too. Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot chili Peppers, Coldplay..it really brings out the best no matter what I play. PLENTY of bass, I have to turn the bass way down or the windows vibrate too much. I like DMB for, among other things the long drum sets that varying back and forth in intensity on the recorded concerts...I don't see how anyone could be disappointed. I'm sure an expert audiophile could punch holes in it. My ears are good, but not that picky.

If I had it to do over again, I would get the Summit and negotiate different wheels... the SRT Wheels or something similarly dark. Other than that I am happy.

Thanks for the thoughtful analysis! That definitely helps me out.

Peter, on your original question, if I had to chose between the choices you listed, I would chose the Granite with frost interior.

I appreciate all the feedback. I went with Brilliant Black/Light Frost. I like the Granite color but...well, I've tended to have metallic grey colors a lot in the past so I thought I'd give black another shot (my last black vehicle was almost 18 years ago). I do really like that the black on the GC is metallic, not a simple gloss jet black.

The light frost interior just makes things seem more "open" and has a more luxurious feel to me whereas the black interior seems more sporty and high tech to a degree but more closed in. Plus, on the GC the interior black is REALLY black--even the pillars and headliner are dark. That just seemed too dark for me. Plus the contrast of the light frost with the black exterior just looks sharp.
