Dash cam

Do any of you use a dash cam and if so, what would you recommend? I'm in the market.

Re: Dash cam

I had a really difficult time trying to figure out which dash cam to get for my Jeep. Some of the amazon reviews were pretty good, but then I would find a whole bunch of negative information on some dashcam review website. This site is pretty helpful Best Dash Cams Of 2015

I ended up going with a Transcend DrivePro 200 Dash Cam on Amazon. Its a little pricer than some of the other dash cams on amazon but I believe you do get what you pay for. This dash cam has a wifi feature that lets you stream and save your videos straight to your phone (Super convenient if you get in an accident). Set-up was easy, it uses a cigarette lighter and has plenty of chordage to wrap around your roof, door pillar, and around your dash. The video quality is pretty good and the overall reviews were pretty good. The only complaint I have seen from people about this is the gforce function is too sensitive so if you want to have this automatically lock videos if you get into an accident, it is very sensitive. I disabled mine so if I get in a wreck I just press the red button on the side and it will not record over the video(s) I save. This also comes with a 16gb memory card which is nice. Some of the other dash cams I looked at had issues with memory card capability, picture quality, and durability in the heat of your car frying out components. I am writing this in a hurry, but hopefully this helps. This dash cam might not be the greatest but I have had it for 3 months now and it seems to be working pretty well. Here is the link to where I bought it on amazon. Good luck!

Re: Dash cam

Hi there,

After reading tons of reviews here is the link to what I purchased, so far very happy with it.
I basically wanted something that can be placed without obstructing the windshield..and since this one goes against the glass and its quite small you can hardly see it.
The wires went thru the pillars so you cant see them and its not pluged to the lighter, I wired it internally.
Hope the info helps you, and here is the link.

Re: Dash cam

I can't help but wonder how long it's going to be before these things are standard equipment on ALL cars? Recording accidents, road rage, name it. There is both good and bad associated with this. I'm willing to bet when they do come from the manufacturer, there will be no way to "turn them off".
