Re: Daytime Running Light Replacement DRL

I removed the DRL socket assembly but couldn't remove the bulb itself. I didn't want to force it. What do I do to release the bulb?

Re: Daytime Running Light Replacement DRL

Appreciate it Jim.

Noticed the outside of the socket is scorched.

Just placed an ebay order for the CREEs.

Re: Daytime Running Light Replacement DRL

While out driving yesterday, I stopped at the Jeep dealer in Perry, Ga to ask what they would charge to install the bulbs I was getting. After a few minutes, the service writer says "About $100." What! For a 15 minute job? "Yep, shows 8/10s of an hour. " see ya.

My wife and I will replace them when they get here. She has skinny hands and arms😊.

Re: Daytime Running Light Replacement DRL

It's not a 15 minute job. It takes about five and even that's if you accidentally reverse one and it doesn't light...

Re: Daytime Running Light Replacement DRL

Thanks for this thread. The other instructions earlier in the thread might be useful for HID replacement but for DRLs on passenger side (AUS, driver side us). Remove top of air filter box, remove air filter. Unhook air dam from filter box. Remove rubber liner push in pin from top of air dam, remove air dam. You can easily reach socket. Remove socket by rotating socket, if you look in front as you do it you will see when it's right to remove. Pull bulb out of socket. Replace new bulb. Insert into headlight assembly, as stated you can see through headlight to know how to insert. Rotate socket until tightly attached to assembly. Reinsert air dam, hook bottom into air cleaner box, replace rubber trim pin at the top. Bang air filter to remove extra dust while you have it out. Replace air filter. Replace top of air box. Return 3 clips to original position and you're done. 5 minutes. I'm a noob and not mechanical... Easy.
