Do the Mopar rock rails help with stone damage to the lower doors?

I drive my black WK2 on dirt roads every other weekend or so. I am not very patient and so, if the road is smooth, straight and flat, I drive relatively fast.

I have 19,000 miles on it, and when washing it by hand last week I noticed a lot of damage to the lower half of the doors from what I assume are pebbles kicked up by the tires.

Will the Mopar rock rails help minimize this? I do not want mud flaps: they look ugly and would likely get knocked off on trails.

We have the mopar rock rails, and mud flaps, and have done thousands of hi speed gravel miles with no door damage, the flaps would play a part but the rails protect all the way along, they are also fantastic for track work. mine have been well tested!

The front flaps are home made out of 6 mm rubber and the back are the moulded plastic jeep versions, somehow they have not broken yet though they are pretty ragged on the edges!!

When I put my rock rails on I was in two minds as to whether to put the front mud flaps back on or leave them off as per the instructions. The standard mud flaps require some cutting out to fit with the rock rails. In the end, remembering how the front mud flaps were nearly torn off on a rock, I left them off in favour of the plastic cap. What do you think, are you glad you had them on the front?

I'd say splash guards (they are huge, unsightly, but effective), plus any type of running board, nerf bar, rock rail (which ever cheapest) will help a lot.

The Jeep splash guards don't look that awkward, I need some to keep the road debris from collecting on my new Jeep. I just upgraged my wheels to Sahara 18s with silent armors. A slightly wider stance gets the black paint dirty quick. I saw the new Trailhawk's rectangle rockrails and I like the other oem style better with the extended tubing "more protective for the grocery store parking lots ;)" Woot, I got the Jeep bug again...picked up my skids today, towhooks backordered.
