Re: Does 2014 WK2 Antenna fit 2011-2013 WK2

Hahaha NOOBS...

Yes the 2014 shark fin antenna can be used on a 2011-2013 that typically has the base / mast style antenna.

However some minor modifications are needed.

Also, if your vehicle has Sirius and navigation, make sure you get the right antenna.

Part 5091902AA is a 2014 Grand Cherokee antenna, texture finish, that uses the green and white fakra connectors only. This will only work on your 2011-2013 Grand Cherokee if your factory antenna is not amplified, and does not need Sirrius or NAV. It will only have two wires, white connector for AM/FM and green connector for SIRRIUS (NAV too if later 2011 -2013)

SOME 2011 Grand Cherokees (built before Jan 2011) that came with the RER radio, have a separate NAV antenna under the dash.
The RER radio has 3 FAKRA inputs (blue for NAV, Green for SIRRIUS, and White for AM/FM)

If this is you, and you upgraded to the RHR and are using the signal combiner for the Sirrius (green) NAV (blue) signals to combine into the one green input on the RHR, You will no longer need the signal combiner if you get the 2014 antenna 5091352AC. (AA and AB also available, but AC is the newest version)

The difference with the 5091352 versus the 5091902 are what signals it receives and the connector types.

If your 2011-2013 has 3 wires, you'll need the 5091352. There are other part numbers for the painted shark fin antennas but I don't know all of them.

However, these antennas have the double blue fakra connector (green wire for Sirrius AND NAV, and the black wire for power) BOTH in the same blue connector.
The white AM/FM connector is unchanged.

You will need a double FAKRA C male connector to single FAKRA K female / with the other wire being cut off and butt connected to the gray w/red tracer power wire in the roof your wk2.

This male double connector will plug into the antenna double blue female, and split into two wires. Again green wire in the blue double connector will go to the green in your roof, and the black wire is power only so it gets butt spliced to the gray wire in roof.
The white am/fm is a direct plug and play.

This antenna will now carry Sirrius and NAV on the green wire, AM/FM on the white and gray wire / power for the amplified antenna.

Can be done but is quite picky with the connectors

I also have a VG antenna and I actually get better reception when I enter the garage here at work that the original antenna.

The color matching and plug n play is what sold it.

They make a shark fin for nearly every color option out there too. The part numbers I gave are for textured black. But a dealer can find you the same with the matching pre painted for your car.

The VG is a huge clunkosaur compared to the OEM

Question Re: Does 2014 WK2 Antenna fit 2011-2013 WK2

Why are you guys replacing the factory antennas??? Are they not performing well?

Do you know if my 2011 Overland JGC w 430n RHB P05064839AG has an amplified antenna from the factory? I know the factory stereo has an amp but I'm unsure if the FM antenna signal is amplified...

I am curious because I installed an aftermarket DVD head unit and soon I plan to add a TV tuner. When I do that I also plan to add an amplified TV tuner antenna to get better TV reception. The TV antenna I am buying also includes an FM connector to give me amplified FM reception. Trying to decide if it will improve my FM reception or not. It seems to be OK-Good with the factory antenna connected to my aftermarket unit currently. But if the amplified TV antenna will be better I'll go with it.

Any help or comments are appreciated...

Does 2014 WK2 Antenna fit 2011-2013 WK2

I just ordered and received my shark fin antenna from Visual Garage. Iy was a painless transaction. I sent them an email with my paint code and they sent me back an PayPal invoice. About a week and a half later I received mine in the mail. The paint matched and it works as advertised. I have a 730 RHR radio with navigation and SAT radio. I highly recommend them.

I'm doubting what you are proposing is possible from looking at the function labels of the antenna connectors.

After buying a used '14 shark fin off eBay and swapping the connectors from the 2011 to 2014 to make it work.

My one issue was where the power for the amplified antenna wire was going to go.

I ended up tossing it and getting a VG shark fin.

I still wanna know what I would have needed to do with b the amp power wire. I'm a little lost with your explanation.

Why not just add the TV antenna as supplemental

Or if your truck is equipped with the WiFi data just get a subscription and stream what you want to see.

The black coax wire from the antenna, does the shield also gets buttspliced to power or only the inner core.

There is a 12k ohm resistance between shield and core. I am a bit hesitant to also connected to power. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

When did they "improve" the 2014 G.C. antenna? Mine was built in July '13 and radio is terrible.
