DOME LIGHT panel LED mod

I just thought I would share....

I had received a couple LED dome light panels through a mis-shipped ebay purchase.

Curiosity got the best of me and I laid them on top of the lenses to see if they could fit, to my surprise the were smaller than the lenses.

Next thing you know I am prying the lenses off and voila.

They fit in there like a glove and you can still turn them on and off individually like before.

ONE HECK of an improvement. Now I just need to change those egg yolk colored LEDs next to them.

Okay time to do the other jeep now, later guys.

Re: DOME LIGHT panel LED mod

Looks great! Where could I get those from? Also is it plug and play? And do you know the bulb that replaces the other ones?

Here is the link to the panels I got the 36 LED panel but the 24 LED should fit better I also took my time and cut up the free panels I got for the rear so I put a link down at the bottom for the rear if you wanna do them too.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/121275734669...84.m1423.l2648

The other bulbs are soldered onto the circuit board. In all honesty these panels are so bright you don't even see the other other ones at night.

It is like adding florescent lights to the inside of the car.

If you want to do the rear dome lights these will fit in there.

Re: DOME LIGHT panel LED mod

Those look great too, I just changed all of the interior bulbs to LEDs and the dome egg ones looks out of place being yellow, is there a basic swap I can do to change that out?

There are people that have removed and resoldered bulbs in there.

I am glad those bulbs are there now since the other ones are so bright.

Before I was kinda lost why they were there but now they have their place.

Maybe I should find a way to disable them as dome lights since they are not needed as supplemental dome lights now and just have them as dedicated map lights.

Re: DOME LIGHT panel LED mod

Ahh I see, sounds a bit complicated for me haha, disabling them as dome lights would be great as they are definitely not needed for that now.

If you take the panel out you can unplug the "yellow" lights from coming on. I replaced them with bright white LEDs and yes it was a bitch, I do not ever want to work with a micro flat cable again.

Re: DOME LIGHT panel LED mod

I want to replace my yellow looking dome bulbs on my GC with something that is more towards white. Can I do this w/o going to an LED bulb? Just want something whiter and a little brighter and simple plug and play.

You need to read the sticky that is the first two lines of of the Interior/exterior/visual section.

This panel mod just came about because I got a bunch of them free and wanted to see if they could work.

There are several LED 168 or 194 bulbs you could use.

x2 168 for the from dome light

x2 168 for the rear dome lights (one per side)

x2 168 for the rear cargo areaa

x2 168 for the front footwell (one per side)

I have been reading it for about 2 days now, laff. I am still a bit confused. All I really want is my dome lights to be a little brighter than stock. That's all, nothing else. It does get a bit confusing with all the different bulbs, years, models though. I just hope I don't get addicted to modding after 2 bulbs.

Thanks

How about the license plate bulb, is it the same as interior?
