Door Handle Advice

Sup Guys, so im trying to get rid of my chrome handles and get them paint matched. at first I thought I would buy some new chrome handles, the stick on ones and then just get those painted to match my jeep. but then I found these, which arnt cheap. 2014 WK2 Bright White Door Handles (PW7) #WK2WhiteHandles

does anyone know if these are stick on or if I have to remove my handles and then reinstall these, if that's the case, anyone know how to do the removal and reinstall.

Re: Door Handle Advice

Those are NOT stick-ons, you need to remove your old ones and install new.
I am waiting for a set of those in billet silver, I'll let you know how hard the install is....

Re: Door Handle Advice

I'm also waiting on a set in Max Steel. First, let me say that price is a bit high. I ordered a set for $231 from allmoparparts. Unfortunately, I have been waiting for over 3 months now, the fronts are on backorder from Mopar.

As far as the installation, I have not had the chance to pull a door panel and look for myself, but a local body shop showed me the procedure on their computer and it looked awfully difficult. He also quoted me $600 (labor only) for the swap. I shopped around a bit and another shop quoted me $175. If you order the replacement handles, be sure to get several estimates for the install.

This is the very last of the chrome on my Jeep and it's really driving me crazy at this point. Every time I look at the Jeep, the first thing I notice is the handles...

Where did you get the 175 quote?
And what did you do to the windows surrounds?

I received my door handles, I'm traveling for a week but hope to restore them when I return.

I had the window trim and various other chrome parts wrapped in gloss black vinyl at Wrap Specialties in Linden. They are also the ones who quoted me that price for the door handle swap.

Let me know how it goes. I would rather do it myself as well.

Re: Door Handle Advice

I can tell you guy replacing door handles is not all that hard.... But its not a job for someone that is afraid to take apart there truck.

The front doors require:
The removal of all the guts of the front door. The 6x9 has to be removed to remove the window glass then lock mechanism has to be unbolted from the door so the the black inner door frame can be removed so you can access the door handle.

The rear door requires:
just accessing the bolts through the access hole through the inner door frame.

Small hands are a plus for the back doors.
I would say 4 hour is a realistic timeframe taking your time and making sure you connect the rods.

I did it on my trucks, I just recently did the second one the other day so it is still fresh in my mind.

thanks for the advice, I think im going to save these handles for last and just have a body shop do it, so if they break anything theyre liable and not me. im pretty sure Id be able to do it, but like you said, its no for someone who is afraid to take apart their truck
