I thought that the idea to round the corners was a great one. Also started me thinking of additional adhesive solutions that might help.

The thing that got me concerned was a comment elsewhere that this product might damage paint during removal. I suppose that wouldn't be a huge concern if you were committed to keeping this area covered either with Xpel or the Mopar product, but it's still not ideal. Still open to hearing other impressions about this product.

Re: Door sill protective film

I have been looking at quite a few sites on the "clear bra" for my JGC. I read the 3M product is the hardest, or least subject to scratching although they all will over time with abuse. Most of the other brands are somewhat "softer'" if you will.

An installer I talked to said the 3M also has more of the "orange peel" effect also (his words). I have used the Xpel film on the front lights of my Commander and have had it applied for a little over 3 years now. Still in great shape with no scratching or pitting and just as clear as the day I put it on.

I used a rough surfaced rubberized product from Ace Hardware on my '99 Superduty for the entry sills and the adhesive backing on that has stayed on since 2000 and if really cleaned looks as good as new with no peeling plus it comes in various colors to match different interiors (I used grey on my SD, matched well). Hope this helps.

Re: Door sill protective film

I installed the Xpel about 1 month ago. No problems with lifting or wear. Looks like oem. I am not worried about lifting paint if i want to remove. The adhesive is fairly aggressive, but i don't think it is strong enough to lift the paint. Happy so far.

Thanks for the followup. I have a $20 credit in my Amazon account and I think I'll try this on the strength of your review, Mafiaman. I will definitely consider putting radius corners on each piece as well.

+rep and thanks.

Re: Door sill protective film

I used most of the roll on the front sills. I covered the entire "flat" region on the front sills. Not enough left over to do rear. May be able to do front & back with one roll if you reduce coverage area.

Re: Door sill protective film

I ordered the "Grand Cherokee" door sill protectors which include black protectors for the back. They should be here tomorrow so I will post pics once I have them in and Installed.

Re: Door sill protective film

I chose not to "wrap" the Xpel over the lip of the sill. I think the metal ones cover the lip.
