Door trim

Started removing the door trim, the adhesive on the rear door came right off but the front door put up a fight. This pic still has the adhesive on the front door. Only finished one side and then I got hungry.....trying to decide if I want to start the other side tonight.

Went ahead and finished it.....I'll just have to clay and wax it next weekend. I'll keep it like this for a bit and then decide if I want the SRT8 door letters or not. I bet waxing and cleaning around those letters is a pain.

Re: Door trim

Looks great. I'm really thinking about doing this and I already have the GRAND CHEROKEE letters like the SRT and Altitude have. How did you get the adhesive off? Was it difficult? I removed the chrome JEEP emblem off the hood (and replaced with a gloss black JEEP badge) and it took forever and was a real pain to remove the adhesive from just under the 4 letters.

Re: Door trim

This is what I found to work best. I used fishing line and a pair of gloves. Hold the end of the fishing line in each hand (use gloves, it helps alot) and use a back and forth motion as you pull the fishing line under the door molding. Then you can slowly pull the molding off with out damage. The next part is key.....don't use any adhesive mover just yet!! After removing your gloves slowly (I mean really slowly) start pulling the remaining tape off the door. It should all come off leaving very little residue on the door. Once all tape has been removed use adhesive remover like goo gone or goof off.....I used some aerosol tar and wax remover.

DO NOT USE ADHESIVE REMOVER UNTIL THE VERY END!! That will save you a lot of headache and time. Trust me.

Re: Door trim

Looks good!

I am not so sure I'd use goof off as it can remove finishes.

Having done this project as well, getting the chrome trim off was the easy part and removing the tape was exhausting. Also just wanted to say your Jeep looks awesome!
