Driver's side wiper, 22" -> 24"?

I know the standard size for the driver's side wiper is 22", but looks like it could take a 24" wiper. Has anyone tried? Does it fit?

Re: Driver's side wiper, 22" -> 24"?

Yes a 24" will fit just fine. Confirmed on our 2015 as well as I ran a 24" on our 2012 before that.

Have been over-sizing wiper blades on all of my cars for years no problems. Contact is good, life of the blade is the same, etc.

I am guessing over time the extra length might put a bit more stress on the arm or maybe over time the blade may not make full contact but neither have shown to be an issue for me.

Re: Driver's side wiper, 22" -> 24"?

I tired that on my 2011... seemed good, but inside I could hear a noise like it was hitting something on the way down. Watched it in action from the outside but couldn't see it hitting anything. Went to standard size and no more noise. Try it if returns are free.

Thanks guys! I currently have Bosch Icons. 22" Driver, 21" passenger. I'll give a 24" a try!

Can't be as bad as those silly 'double' wipers that were so popular in the 80s.

My brother-in-law worked for a glass shop at the time. He used to laugh about all the wiper motors he had to replace because the added friction burned out the motor.

HAHAHAHAHAHA I had forgotten all about those!!!! (I blocked a lot of the 80s out actually)....

Years ago I was at an auto parts store when someone came in to complain their brand new double blade wipers were leaving a line of water. Turns out they had a rock stuck between the blades. (wasnt the full double wipers, but had two blades on the one arm)

Not only was it not clearing in that area but it scratched (more like gouged!) the heck out of the windshield!

In addition to the Icons, I highly reccomend the Rain-X deicer washer fluid.
Tried it this year for the first time, and it is doing a great job.

Might want to check out this thread before using Rain-X.
Windshield Washer Fluid fluid light won't go out.

Re: Driver's side wiper, 22" -> 24"?

24's might be fine for summer, but I would not use them in winter (especially this winter!). Contact pressure would be less when spread over 24" and there would be more resistance on the motor when windshield is snow covered.
