Not sure about converting those signals to be used as DRLs, but an awesome bulb system to look into is the VLED V3 Tritons. Hands down the best aftermarket LEDs money can buy!
They have an amber system that replicates the original bulbs functions identically, or they have a fancy setup that will turn off the dim amber output when turn signal is activated so that its full intensity on/off. Instead of full intensity on then back to dim etc etc
The website explains in better detail on what I'm describing, but to put t simpler, it works like newer cars with LED DRLs. For example 2014+ WK2s with LED headlights will turn off the LED strip when you activate the turn signal. The amber/amber V3 LEDs do the same thing. The dim Amber park lights will turn off and it will flash on/off full intensity during turn signal operation. Then when the turn is complete it will turn the dim park lights back on.
