Hey all, newbie here and I've been lurking around for a few weeks now.
I just installed a set of these tail lights from ebay, and I'm pretty impressed. The only issues I had were the inner tails didn't fit 100%, more like 90%. They don't sit as flush and stick out a little bit. They're not too bad or noticeable to anyone else, only the owner.
Install was pretty straight forward. Came with a resister that I tucked behind the rear bumper. Inner tails were also tapped into the 3rd brake light so they function as brake lights as well. The install took about 30 min total, super easy to do.
All in all, not bad for the price. Bought them on ebay for $260 shipped.
do you guys know what socket is used on the tailgate lights that is tapped into the brake light? Wondering if this socket could be used in the oem tail lights to integrate the brake lights on the tailgate.
Good idea,I don't know why it's so difficult to use the oem lights. Splicing wires into the harnesses is just something that some folks are hesitant to do.
Very nice, and am with others, would like to see a video of them in operation.Just curious to see them in action.Very impressed with the still photo nonetheless. Thanks for the post,it has my interest piqued.
As far as being hesitant of splicing/tapping into wires, I get it. No one likes cutting into the OEM wiring, but I have spliced into OEM wires on a lot of different vehicles from resistors, LOC for an amp, switches etc. and have not had any problems on any of them. Just my .02
You know how these dealers can be,you come in with an issue they find the tapped wire and all of a sudden we can't cover you under warranty. It's crazy.
I only had the car a little under two weeks now. I'm still on the fence about the lowers. I've seen videos of them in action and a part of me likes them, and the other part of me thinks the lowers make it look too busy in the back.
Yeah I know what you mean, your setup looks very good and is probably driving jeep drivers behind crazy while they're thinking..Hey my taillights don't look like that ?
How long did the install take?
Install took about 30 min total. That also includes watching after a 9 month old during the install (I really wanted to install the lights bad and didn't want to wait for my wife to get home to watch the baby).
Love the look of those taillights.
Does anyone know if they would work on an export 2014 model.
Only asking as the USA uses the outer top lights for turn signals and brake lights as in Australia we only use the outer and inner for brake lights and as a result you use the 2 bottom clear sections the inner and outer as the reverse lights.
We use the clear inner as the reverse light and the outer as the turn signal with an amber globe or led.
Would it be easy to change the wiring for the turn signals and add an amber led? As all the wiring is there from the OEM lights or have i over looked something?
And is the resistor there to stop the hyper flash or similar?
How is the quality of the lights? I read the above posts about FITMENT ISSUES. But I mean in terms of any condensation problems or anything like that? Thank you
Are the Eagle Eye LED tail lights compatible with the Taillight Solutions kit? I have the TS LED upgrade w/ Rear Fog Conversion. I thought I read in another thread that you have to remove the TS resistors if you intend to use them with the Eagle Eye tail lights but now I can't seem to find that post?
