Question Fender flares unglueing on 2015 GC Summit

I have recently noticed on my 2015 GC Summit that the fender flares are unglueing at the leading corners from the body. Has anyone dealt with this issue?? And will a little epoxy remedy the problem??

It was a problem for some on the 14's... I can't believe they haven't resolved that.

You have a factory warranty, make them fix it.

Oh wow so this problem is an ongoing issue. Yes I just bought this GC two months ago. Uugghhh not wanting to deal with dealership again. But will have to do so to get fixed. Won't they just glue to body I don't see them replacing whole painted peices. I may be wrong.

It's attached with adhesive tape. They'll replace that.

I wouldn't say it's a widespread problem but several people on the forum have had the issue.

Re: Fender flares unglueing on 2015 GC Summit

Wow that's the worst I have seen. I have a 2014 with 4,000 miles on it now and they are still in place perfectly. I guess it all really depends on how well they are installed at the factory that will determine how long they are gonna stay attached.
It's a pretty simple installation process so you can get creative and do whatever you want to get them back together. Remove as much as the old adhesive as you can and reinstall new tape and make sure the surfaces are as clean as possible. Use a good amount of
pressure when reinstalling and even a heat gun to make it really tacky. You can use adhesives, but make sure you use something that won't destroy the paint.
It is a pretty poor design to have a body panel held in place with tape. There are clips on the inner parts, but still the tape is going to separate at some point. Just doesn't make much sense.

Just fix it yourself or try. Heat it up with a haridryer and tape it down overnight with painters tape. That should fix itm

I will try to fix it myself and see what happens, cause honestly after the whole bug guard fiasco at the dealership, I don't need to spend two more weeks trying to re-fix a problem due to negligence.

If you go to the dealer ask them how they intend to fix it, some of the more idiot dealers want to rip it apart and start repainting everything, don't let them do that go somewhere else, you don't want repaint on a brand new vehicle like that unless there is a true need like an accident. Or try doing it yourself to avoid the dealer maybe creating a bigger mess than you brought in. I used a syringe to inject a small amount of chysler (3M) emblem adhesive in the lifting areas. Quick, cheap and works with no dealer involved. There are a few other threads on this on what people are doing. Mine is a 2014 March 2013 build so this issue been going on a while. Not a huge issue but I still don't like to see trim lifting off vehicles a few months old

I will try that 3M adhesive solution since its is only the corner cause I would hate to take into the dealer and have them tear it all off and want to repaint it for something so minor. Not a huge issue but I hate that it is starting to unglued and with it being so new. I might just take it into my trusty local body shop ( I have been a regular customer) and see what adhesive they might have or recommend as well.

If you decide to try yourself these syringes they have on amazon helped me a lot because you really only need a very small amount of adhesive in just the right spot and at $1 a piece these are a cheap throw away. good luck!

Re: Fender flares unglueing on 2015 GC Summit

The syringe idea is great because you aren't peeling up the entire flare just the front section and it's hard to get stuff in there. I would go with Silvermax04's idea!!!

Well I tried the syringe idea and it worked marvelously!! Just put small amount in syringe, made sure to add a few drops where needed internally between parts and applied pressure and blue painters tape and looks excellent.

Thanks for the help with this issue. Great tip!!!
