few questions

Hey guys im new here. 1st jeep ive ever owned. its a 2011 grand cherokee summit and i have a few questions. hopefully im posting this in the right area.

1. I cant get the fog lights to work. i checked for fuses and whatnot. the light on the dash comes on for the fog lights but they dont turn on. could it be something as easy as a burned out bulb. i thought they looked ok

2. I wanna put mud flaps on it to protect the sexy brown paint but cant find any mud flaps that will fit the summit models. do they even make them?

Thanks in advance guys

Re: few questions

No insult intended but just to make sure you're aware of it... the fog lights will only turn on if you have the parking lamps or low beam headlights on. Is that how you're trying to operate them?

Have you checked for Mopar mudflaps? I know they have them for the other GC models but I'm not sure about the Summit.

Also i looked on mopar and they have the mud flaps but it says not for summit models .......... a few of the other places ive tried looking all say the same thing.

Re: few questions

Yeah, that's what I thought about the flaps... the Summit has a different wheel flare. I don't know what the logic is behind Jeep not offering them for the Summit.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure you understood the fog light operation. I know it's a stupid question to have to ask but sometimes that's where the problem lies.

If your fog lamp indicator is lighting then the next simplest thing to do is check the bulbs if you've already gone through the fuses. It is a little unusual to blow both lamps though, so that may be an indicator of a wiring (or relay?) issue.

Re: few questions

sucks they dont make them mud flaps for summits. i hate it when i get to work and there is mud on the doors

ill have to double check the bulbs but they looked fine to me. ill have to check and make sure the connections are all tight and wiring is ok. or maybe just take it to the dealer and let them figure it out.

Re: few questions

I did some quick googling for molded splash guards. There's a bunch out there but not for the Summit or SRT8. You could go with a universal but that would probably look like crap.

Yeah, it may be better to leave the fog light headache to the dealer. LOL...

Re: few questions

I looked at those earlier when I did a quick search. According to the link you provided, the Husky splash guards fit Laredo, Limited and Overland only. Look at the "select submodel" dropdown under the splash guards.

Re: few questions

You have an 11-13 Summit....theres no difference in the skirts on summit anmd laredos as far as I know. Am I missing something? I know on 14's+ they are...but not on the 11-13.

as far as the fogs...check the bulbs. Sometimes the filament can be broken etc.

Re: few questions

theres no difference in 11-13...its 2014. Its a probably a mistake on their end where it was changed in 2014's. See...the 2014 summits have the same skirts as the SRT pretty much...same shape anyway where the mudflaps would mount.

Here ya go...from justforjeeps.....just like I said. Only SRT and 2014 summits
