Flasher relay? Virtual Relay?

All

I have ordered some "switchback" 7444 LED lights for my front turn signals

For those who do not know, those are the amber parking lights that stay lit until the turn signal is put on, then they blink

The point of a switchback is they will actually illuminate white when constant, and amber when blinking (pretty cool eh?)

But , since these are LEDs, they draw lower voltage than your standard filament-type bulb hence why one needs either an in-line load resistor and OR an updated flasher relay to compensate for the lower overall electrical load

Anybody know where this relay is, and or could someone confirm if WK2s even have them. I won't be mad if ours dont because this thing was only like 8 bucks

Thanks for the link.

I guess I have to purchase some resistors. I really don't like those things as they get hot, they are flimsy.

This kind:

I am going to opt for something like this:

Re: Flasher relay? Virtual Relay?

I'm intrigued...
Where do you get these "LED Decoder" units?

Everything I've found on Google (including units on Amazon) doesn't give much promise to the 'decoders'. I think I would rather use a ballast resistor with a wiring harness so that I didn't have to cut the OEM harness.

Let me preface.

So normally I would pass on what appears to be Chinese junk - however I bought LED reverse bulbs from this vendor on amazon before and the bulbs were amazing.... better than my Philips LED bulbs even. (My reverse bulbs are Philips 921 LED for tailgate reverse and JDM ASTAR 7440 for body reverse)

Anyway

Search amazon for "JDM ASTAR 7440 7441 7444 LED Decoder for Warning Canceller Anti Hyper Blinking Flashing (Pack of 2)" that's what I bought - we shall see how it goes. Seller = "JDM ASTAR" ... can't miss it

Re: Flasher relay? Virtual Relay?

I went through 3 different vendors on Ebay for the LED decoders about a year ago.....none of the them worked.....just FYI.

So what was your outcome? Resistors or nothing?

Re: Flasher relay? Virtual Relay?

I was going to do the switchbacks as well with the led decoders. I'm not really a fan of the resistors.

So I didn't do the project since the decoders didn't work. If your project works, keep us posted and I'll probably get a set from the company you purchased from on amazon.

Something else you might wanna check out if you haven't done yet to you rig.......Taillight solutions-just ordered mine.

I love this option!

Hmm - I will tinker with it. Fortunately my buddy has a heated warehouse I can pull my Jeep into. I was under the assumption that the "decoders" were simply harnesses with the resistor built into the box. Did you use this specific one or try it? (JDM ASTAR) I'm sure they are all very similar.

Regarding the tailight solution kit - I honestly am not a huge fan of it. The only thing that would be cool is making those reflectors a "rear fog light" that you see on audis. Having the ability to turn those on and have them be significantly brighter than the tails would be nice is bad conditions.

That option is available from a third party and has been for some time....pretty much plug 'n play, too. But not cheap!

ahh yes, the ridiculous mopar part # 82212166 - the rear fog light kit that is far from plug and play and utilizes the front fog light signal to activate the rear ones. completely useless

No, I'm referring to the third party product...not Mopar.
