Re: Fog lights 2015 HA

Does anyone have a "How To" for installing new fog lights on the 2015 HA?

Super easy on the Summit or HA. turn the front wheel all the way to the right or left depending on which one you are doing, lay down on the ground, reach your hand into the hole between the wheel well felt material and the lower edge of bumper, grab the fog bulb turn a 1/4 turn counter clockwise and remove, unplug bulb replace with new and reinsert. you are doing most of this by feel which to me was a piece of cake about 5 minutes per side. if you are someone that needs to see it when you are doing it then you are into a bigger project of removing wheel well liners or bumpers or whatever.

Re: Fog lights 2015 HA

Has anyone tried these H11s

http://www.amazon.com/Xtreme%C2%AE-P...1&keywords=H11

they claim "Plug & play, No Ballast Needed, No Relay Harness Needed, No Resistor Needed, No Cut & Wires Needed; No more headlight flickering."
They appear to be complete plug and play no ballasts, relay and spaghetti mess.

3600 lumens per bulb

and what caught my eye was it comes with 3 types of glass tubes 4300k 5000k 6000k. so if you want to stay with stock HIDs should be able to use the 4300k and get fairly close match.

the negative I saw was some people complained about the base being large and fitting. the GCs have a good bit of room on the fogs so I doubt that would be an issue. they do have fans but I have not seen any high out LEDs that don't except that braided wire stuff.

So it sounds good, I may keep this one in mind

The way I see it, there are several problems:

1) Why would anyone buy this product when there is another product (OPT-7), $5 more expensive, that is known, trusted and proven, with over 800 positive reviews?

2) In principle I do not support a product that blatantly bashes a competitor's product. The crossed out LED bulbs are exactly the other product (i.e. OPT 7)

3) Why are people over-emphasizing the color difference between the OPT-7 LED (6000K) and the OEM HIDs? There is, but it is so miniscule, one has to look for the difference to see the difference. And NONE OF YOU can see your headlights and fog lights while driving. And frankly neither can I, but I do not care about the slight color difference.

Disclaimer: I have the OPT-7 product, purchased on amazon. I received 2 good bulbs and one bad harness. I contacted the manufacturer, and they have shipped me out replacement connectors/wires/cables/flux capacitors and snake hairs. There was no drama in dealing with OPT-7. They stood by their product. And last I had the opportunity to drive the Jeep in a really dark place and my one fog light was fantastical.

Well why anyone may want to think about this is that it is all self contained, it does not have external ballast, extra capacitors wires or whatever else they are sending you to make yours work that need mounted somewhere. It has 3 different color tubes so that if you do not happen to like the 6000k color there are two others to try with one being 4300k which is the same as stock HID. This is why I posted it because there are differences to consider and they are things that may be important to others and they may want to look at. The $5 difference has nothing to do with why I posted this.

2) In principle I do not support a product that blatantly bashes a competitor's product. The crossed out LED bulbs are exactly the other product (i.e. OPT 7)

Then don't support it or consider it

I have tried several LEDs and there is a difference between stock 4300k HID and 6000k, other users of OPT7 have noted the color difference on the OPT7 and one of them moved his stock HIDs to 5000k to better match the OPT7. How close a match it is or isn't is a matter of peoples opinion I'm sure some are fine with it an some are not. Just my opinion and personnel preference but if a headlight and fog light are going to be different color temperatures I prefer the headlight to be whiter and the fog light to yellower not the other way around.

I'm sure the OPT7 is a fine bulb I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. I post this as another opinion and something for people to look at and consider if they want to. The self contained nature of this one and the color options is attractive to me and I thought others may like to take a look at them also.

yeah I was kind of interested in those also I found the part # for the SRT ones but didn't see any for summit and could not verify if those SRT ones would fit into summit. it appeared to be a one piece assembly vs just a bulb so not sure if that the back side of that fog housing is interchangeable. definitely a good one to keep an eye on let us know if you find anything good. will be interesting to see if the 2016 summits roll off the line with LED or halogen, sounds like they may be LED unless they hold off a few months for 2017s.
