Front Bumper Holes

Just took my front plate off and I'm left with 4 nice drill holes. Anybody got a good solution for making it look at least half decent. Vehicle is white btw

Has anyone tried these, and which is best color for a white altitude, to many whites to choose from

Re: Front Bumper Holes

I did this using my own method and it turned out pretty good. You pretty much have to be standing next to the Jeep to see anything there, especially on a white Jeep that's bright.
You want to get a flat razor and basically shave the holes flat, then fill with whatever you want. I used a formable epoxy type stuff. Fill all the holes, then shave flat once again. The next step you can either cover with touchup paint, or in my case I used white vinyl wrap that I had. I cut 4 small 1/4" circles and applied over the holes. Turned out very good. I'm a picky person and I can live with this. Having the front bumper resprayed on a brand new car was not an option for me, so this will do. I considered the plugs, but I felt they stuck out too much making them too obvious. I needed it to be flush to make them near invisible.

Here are a couple pictures with my repair job. Sorry, no close ups, but you can see how they pretty much disappear on a white vehicle.

Re: Front Bumper Holes

I always wondered why manufacturers haven't figured out a way so when someone doesn't want to install the front license plate on their vehicle, the bracket can be removed without leaving behind holes/scratches in bumper. Can't be that difficult to design this at the design stage.

Audi did it on many of their cars. They had a swap-able filler plates for euro, us, or no front license plate.

Re: Front Bumper Holes

Acura does it on a lot of their cars. My previous car was a 07 Acura TL Type S and it was great. There are only two bolts to hold the frame on, and if you didn't want it the car comes with caps that plug right into the bumper.
Look jet to the left and right of the ACURA word in the middle of the bumper. Those are the caps that cover the bolt holes. Ugh, I loved that car. But yeah, all
Manufacturers should do that. And what really makes me mad is that why do dealers install those at most dealerships??? Why not just leave it up to the owner instead of putting the damn holes in every single car?

If the vehicle is going to a state that requires a front plate then I believe the dealer has to order it along with the vehicle and install it as it normally doesn't come installed from the factory.

I've never asked the dealer if I could install it myself, so I can't say whether or not the owner has that DIY option.

Well it can't be a requirement as they certainly don't do it to all of them. My previous 2014 Summit did not have the bracket installed, but my 2015 did. It's hit or miss, I see some dealers that leave them off of fancier cars, or higher end models and leave it up to the owners or do it as requested.

Re: Front Bumper Holes

I made it clear I wasnt going to purchase the Jeep if the front plate was mounted so you do have an option.
You just need to make sure you make it very clear to them.

That's what I have done on every new vehicle since 1993. I once went to take delivery of a 1993 Lexus SC400 where I specifically told the sales guy that if the car has a front license plate bracket on in, I will refuse the car.
I go to take delivery a couple days later and there it is with the license bracket on the front. I then said no deal and as I was leaving, I said if you get another car within 2 days without the bracket, then I'll buy the car. Needless to say 2 days later I took delivery of another SC400 they got off the boat. Though the last few vehicles I've purchased, the dealer now has me sign a release form stating that I took delivery of the vehicle without the front license plate bracket installed. Guess it releases them in case I got a ticket and tried to put the blame on them. I had no problem signing it. Way better than having that ugly license plate on the front. Can't stand that on any vehicle.

You just have to hold your ground and say you will go elsewhere if they don't obey the demand. They are not going to lose a sale over that.

Re: Front Bumper Holes

^^^ that's great and all and I agree with the no plate thing, the problem though with the Grand Cherokee is that there is a fairly large risk as far as quality concerns go and I just couldn't special order one as the chances of that one having some sort of issue is fairly high. When I was searching for my high altitude I had to look at literally 5 of them before I found one that was acceptable to me. Some had front flares already peeling, some had doors with unacceptable gaps, another had a faulty air suspension. In other words, I had to hand pick the most perfect one and special ordering one and hoping its to your standards was too risky. Yeah mine had plate holes, but I was able to fix that up pretty good...everything else about the Jeep is perfect though that's for sure :-)
