Wrecked Front end: Exploring Aftermarket Bumper Options

So my jeep was creamed yesterday by a lady running a stop sign.

It was still driveable and doesn't appear to be any serious damage to anything inside the engine bay or frame, etc. However, since the front bumper / fascia trim, etc. will need to be replaced, I figure it's an opportunity to at least consider putting on something aftermarket. I have only found two options, and only one that is readily available in the states. The ARB:

And a product from Australia called Uneek, which looks a little less like a kid in headgear with a bad overbite than the ARB option.

I may well end up getting everything replaced to OE spec but feel it's at least worth having the converation. I figure the insurance check for all the OE stuff will likely cover the ARB. Does anyone know of any other options?
I'm also looking at the RRO hidden winch mount but I would still need to have everything else replaced to OE so I would lose the extra scale provided by the claim check.

Re: Front Bumper Options

Ive had this website bookmarked for a while. It has the ARB bumper that you mentioned. But it also has a bullbar that integrates into the bumper. If you want to keep your stock bumper but give it a bit of an upgrade, this wouldnt be a bad choice. Depends on how much insurance provides and how much youre quoted.

Here are some quick images of different types of integrated bull bars from the website (save everyone some time)

Re: Front Bumper Options

Thank you. Yes, all of those options are the RRO hidden winch (with different front plates) that I referred to in my op but none of those replace the bumper so I'm not getting take advantage of the insurance claim. It seems my only option is the full ARB solution.

Re: Front Bumper Options

Too Bad the ARB doesn't "look right" on WK2's. They are truly function over form. You may not have time to wait but Chief Products in Australia is working on front end options for off roading

Re: Front Bumper Options

We had a similar accident in February with no frame damage, just bodywork and "bits". Ours was still driveable and ran just fine the 5 miles home, even with the suspension 'down' !

Total to repair was over $12.5k though!

If you have Air Suspension, you may well find that the main pump/control unit and associated lines to the RH suspension unit may be damaged. They are located in the RH fender and the buggers are expensive......

Personally, if you are under warranty and rather than dick around with the insurance company, I would leave it stock.

Actually, I wished I had a big ass bull bar on the front of mine before the accident. Then the idiot would have had his van ripped open!

Thanks for the story. We're dropping the jeep off at the insurance approved body shop tomorrow. I'll talk to the service writer about the possibility of the ARB or one of the hidden winch options but I'm not gonna pull the 'get the higher quote and use the money to have billy-bob fix it on the cheap' maneuver. Also, from past experience with ARB, there is likely a long lead time unless someone has one sitting in a warehouse.

$12.5k is impressive; I had wondered what all these fancy bits cost. The suspension is still 'up' so potentially the air suspension is undamaged. Your thoughts re: having a bull bar are exactly mine; I'm not as interested in having a vehicle off road ready as I am interested in being better equipped for dealing with the battleground that is our highways against the kids too distracted searching for their favorite panda bear doing pushups emoji to watch where they're going. It's like Fury Road if, instead, the assailants were apathetic teenagers.

It's only going to get worse, too.

Now, even a broken headlight can cost $1500 or more because of HIDs, LEDs and other expensive components.

The bumper gets even worse when you start adding in parking sensors and accident avoidance RADAR units.

That doesn't even take into account the adjustable suspension, airbag sensors, and built in crumple zones made to collapse. You also have electronic security controls on the doors along with mirrors with motors to fold them in, heat units and signals.

Finally, cars are full of airbags. The right collision can mean replacing as many as 8 airbags on some vehicles.
