Front Fascia - '15 Summit

Hi - first time post here. Hoping to get some assistance to solve a puzzle .

I recently purchased a used '15 Summit/Platinum with ~13K miles. Fell in love with the way this one looked online, went to the lot on a whim and bought it right there and then. Now, here is the "issue": The front grill and fascia are entirely blacked out. The front grill trim rings and mesh inserts are body color (black) and the lower bar (the one on the summit that curves up over the adaptive cruise control antenna and back down again) is also body color, along with the mirrors.

I have never seen a single other Summit with a body color front end. Every other vehicle has either chrome trim rings/grill insert/lower front end bar (non-Platinum) or the more satin silver color (Platinum edition).

I have had the dealer print out the complete options list from their STAR system, but really didn't clear things up. There appears to be no way to order this in options packages. So it appears it is some kind of special order. Possibly the grill/trim from an SRT? Altitude?. But this doesn't answer why the lower bar is also black.

I don't think someone had these painted separately, per the carfax the original owner (possibly corporate, not sure) owned the car for only 5 months (11K miles) and the dealer owned it for 2 months (2K miles).

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Front Fascia - '15 Summit

The former owner probably had it done and if they paid to have it painted consider yourself lucky. You may want to double check to see if it's a vinyl wrap but if not the last owner cared enough to convert everything to black with OEM parts and paint. Post some pics and congrats.

Here's one done with gray plastidip which is a spray on rubber.

This one from Belgium painted.

Re: Front Fascia - '15 Summit

Thanks very much for both of the quick replies.

I will double check, but I am fairly certain at least the lower bar is body color (same black with the "glitter" metallic look).

Would love to post pics . . . doesn't appear I am able to do so yet . . . haven't checked the forum guidelines - I assume there is a minimum post count to enable posting attachments.

Re: Front Fascia - '15 Summit

Yeah the previous owner did all that. Platinum version offers paint matched lower skirts compared to non-Platinum that is granite regardless of exterior color. All the trim on the front that you are saying is black was original chrome, or in your case since it's a platinum edition more like a brushed nickel look.

Thanks very much. As soon as I hit the magical post limit (didn't jump out at me in the forum rules), I will post pictures.

I agree (you have a nice looking car by the way!).

Here are a few (Not perfect) pictures ... see if this works. I love the way the car looks in entry/exit mode - wish I could leave it that way all the time .

Re: Front Fascia - '15 Summit

Looks awesome thanks for sharing. You can even finish the look and do the chrome emblems which are readily available on eBay in gloss black. Hood, liftgate, and front door. Also, for some reason looks like the previous owner didn't do the lower side skirt chrome strip. Looks awesome though, sweet Summit!!

Re: Front Fascia - '15 Summit

Thanks ... And you are right ... Somewhat schizophrenic look not sure why side wasn't painted while they were at it. Good suggestion about the black emblems ... What I would like I think is a set of the black SRT wheels too ...

Thanks again!
