Front License Plate Alternatives?

Does anyone have a solution for mounting the front license plate that doesnt require drilling into the bumper?

Re: Front License Plate Alternatives?

Some people put the altec show and go on the bottom of the bumper towards the side. I think it looks hideous, so no front plate for me!

Unfortunately Texas still requires a front plate! It's annoying and really ruins the look of the vehicle.

There's gotta be a better way!

Ny does too. I'll take the tickets lol.

Do they really crack down hard on that stuff in TX?

Here in Manhattan NYPD loves to make money on equipment tickets.

I would just run without it, but 2 holes had already been drilled when I bought the Jeep. I don't think the bracket looks bad, but I'm used to front plate states I guess

Re: Front License Plate Alternatives?

I went to bumperplugs.com and got a color matched set to fill the holes where my front license plate was drilled. I'm in Texas as well. I've had it off for almost 3 months with no issue. My gf has not had a license plate for the past 2 years and she hasn't been stopped for it neither. So I'd roll without it.

Front License Plate Alternatives?

You could try using rare earth magnets. I got this idea back when i was a member on Audizine years ago with my B5 S4.

All you do is epoxy one half of the magnet to the inside of your front bumper and the other to the backside of the plate. I used 4 magnets one in each corner of the plate. (the S4 had a removable body colored plate the license plate normally would sit over, which made install super easy). I was very skeptical about this idea and how well it would hold. But after a few high speed cruises i was surprised to see that it did not move. I ran that setup for about a year before buying an '08 WK.

Best part about it, is that you can take the plate on or off when you want and the system is completely undetectable.

I don't mind the tickets it is the fact that it gives the Police an excuse to pull you over. You never know you may be on your way home from dinner and you have had a couple drinks(you are not drunk) but then you get pulled over for no front plate and you have go through the whole sobriety process with the cop. It is just a hassle.

3M make a double sided tape called VHB ( very high bond). Best stuff I have ever seen. Try that

Re: Front License Plate Alternatives?

Has anyone tried attaching it to the lower fascia of the front? Next to where the lens for the ACC would go (or centered if you dont have that option)?
