Glove Box light...

Who the heck designed this? The light is partially obscured in the corner and changing it out to LED was a PITA trying to get out the original wedge bulb. Of course once I got the bulb out my pliers loose grip and bulb drops behind the covers

Re: Glove Box light...

You know the side comes off too right? Open the passenger door and pop off the side cover. Allows you to use two hands, one from inside the glove box and one from outside. Its still difficult however.

Re: Glove Box light...

Even after your warning, I still dropped the halogen light down the inside of the well I second your observations, what a bitch of a light to change. Just to get the halogen out, even with that side panel partially pulled off was a nightmare, let alone getting the LED in! I ended up pulling the bottom of the glove box partially off and using some tape on wire to fish the lost halogen out.

CONSPIRACY THEORY - Hmmmm, I wonder if the GC is designed in such a way to put us "weekend" tinkerers off..... that light globe was so difficult to change the average person would get the dealer to do it..... for a cost of course! The same with the battery. Getting the +ve cable off was a bitch, but getting it back on..... well that is another story. As for getting the battery out...... That is my 10 cents worth!!

Thanks for your advice, helped me out heaps. Now to tackle the lights inside the tailgate...

Does anyone have any visuals on how to do this? I failed miserably at changing it and lost two lights already.

I figured it out, its really just some force to get some clips off. Here's a video that helped me visualize it, the glove box part is towards the end

Re: Glove Box light...

I changed out my interior 194 bulbs and found a very effective method to get them out of the socket. Use a piece of rubber or plastic hose that is a little smaller than the bulb - like 3/8" - slide the hose over the bulb and pull. Worked very well. I tried the needle nose pliers method and I was afraid of shattering the bulb and then you have pieces of glass all over your interior and possibly in your eyes.

Re: Glove Box light...

getting it out wasn't hard, it was putting the damn thing back in that was a challenge for me even with the side taken off. the workspace is so small and I don't even think I have large hands.

I changed out ALL my interior light to LED. This one was a real bitch to change!

Re: Glove Box light...

Agreed with everyone else. The glove box is a pain in the butt. I wore latex gloves that helped with gripping the bulb.

Took me about 20 mins to change that one bulb when it took me the same amount of time to change all the other interior lights!
