Re: Got my lower skirts paint matched 2014 white Summit

Looks great. I really need to do this mod soon.

So did you take the front and rear bumpers completely off and take the whole thing into the shop? Didn't just take the lower gray section off separately?

Is your jeep lowered or do the new white parts just make it appear lower?

Re: Got my lower skirts paint matched 2014 white Summit

I did a full clay bar and wax job the last few days and took a couple more shots in brighter, sunny conditions. I'm still so happy with the look of the painted sills!

Yes I completely removed the front and rear bumpers as I couldn't see anyway that guys were able to remove ONLY the gray lower parts while the bumpers were attached to the car. There are so many clips and screws that it just seemed darn near impossible to do with bumpers on. So removing them seemed to be the easiest way to do it. After the bumpers were removed I completely disassembled and removed all the chrome trim and any other piece so that the only parts I brought into the shop were the skirts to be painted and nothing more.

My Jeep has the air suspension so what you see in all my pics are it sitting at the entry/exit lowered height setting. I will say though that with the combination of the white painted parts it does give it a slightly lower because when they were gray you almost didn't even see them.

Did you have a manual, some other tutorial maybe, to help with the bumpers/skirts removal? Your rig looks fantastic by the way!

Re: Got my lower skirts paint matched 2014 white Summit

Looks GREAT!!! So much better than the granite. I hate that on the Summits. Like the way you kept the chrome, it really looks good on the white. Wondering if you could've used IMRON or something tougher than regular paint though. My Overland has quite a few chips in the rockers and front fascia. I have mud flaps too... sheeesh!

Not sure what IMRON is, but either way its just painted like any other Summit, Overland, or SRT that has body matched lower skirts and it appears to be holding up very nicely as there is still not a single scratch or nick right behind the wheels. The painted skirts are definitely a mod I do not regret doing. When I see pictures of my Summit before with the granite skirts I cant believe what a difference it is to the appearance of this Summit.
Yeah it was a paint removing the front and rear bumper skirts, but still worth it.

I really like the look more than the California edition. I also own a white Summit, too. The only thing I don't like is the lower valence on the rear bumper as it looks "thick" due to it protruding to cover the hitch. The dark section sort of hides that protrusion. The rear bumper on non-Summit vehicles has a nice profile minus the exposed hitch which doesn't look good, either.

Has nothing to do with the hitch cover. It's just ground effects of the SRT/Summit body kit. Looks good if you ask me.

I agree. If I'm recalling correctly, the SRT still has a part of the lower valence painted black.
