Re: got oem hid projectors installed

Only if you can get them to put on a D2S fitting for your bulbs. Also, where are you going to put the ballasts? They are the wrong size for installing them where your present ballasts are located. Sounds like a lot of work for mimimal extra light. I have both 55wt ballasts and 35wt ballasts on other cars and it is very hard to tell which is which. I wouldn't change the ballasts in the headlight. I would spend your money on a good set of fog lights instead. I have a couple of posts and some pictures on how I changed my fogs into projector fogs with 55wt ballasts and H1 bulbs. I used the Mini H1 projectors at "The Retrofit Souce" so you are looking at the correct store to begin with. Check it out. OEM Fog Light replacement idea Page 2.

Re: got oem hid projectors installed

WHat I want to be able to do is get an additional high beam added to my current Bi-Xenon headlamps. From the factory, the high beam area has become a DRL and I want a dual high beam set-up. Is this even a possibility?

Re: got oem hid projectors installed

Has anyone here tried these D1S bulbs? Are they really better than the ones that come stock?

Check out Bclemons set up, he put some H1 styled bulbs in the DRL position, since you already have bixenon and are not upgrading from halogen you are going to have to find the shutter activation wire to trigger your relay harness for your Auxiliary lights.

Like everyone said before here are Three options to consider before going the route your are proposing.
  1. Start by just upgrading your bulbs to a higher output bulb
  2. Try experimenting with the aim of your bulbs raising them a couple turns can get you an extra ten feet of visibility don't do more than four turns or you may blind oncoming traffic.
  3. Upgrade your foglights to something better.
In reality the DRL position has the bulb sheild on it so they are just additional short range lights. For them to be true High beams you would need to remove the bulb sheild from the housings.

I believe so, our bulb size is D1S.

Re: got oem hid projectors installed

I called a couple of retrofit places and they told me the best bang for the buck to improve brightness and clarity is a lens swap. I just dont know how much it will cost...

Re: got oem hid projectors installed

A lenses swap is not that costly but you have to find some one that can open the housing without hacking it up.

Re: got oem hid projectors installed

Has anyone else realized that the reflector that Jeep uses in their high beams (which utilize the DRL's) in the Bi-Xenon lights is the SAME reflector they use for the low beam in the NON bixenon lights? Its the SAME THING!! Very interesting if you ask me...

I wonder how hard t would be to swap the reflectors out so I could possibly add and additional high beam halogen light to my Bi-Xenon projectors...
