Re: Grand Cherokee WK2 Cargo Area Tie Down Tracks

Great idea and post. The concerns of what might happen in an accident have merit, although your project is safer than just using the standard tie downs. Jeep should make this either standard or an option. It is next on my list to do to tie down all my photo gear to keep it from slippin', slidin' and bouncin'

How many times have either your shopping trips been cut short by needing to hot-foot it home with your perishables...or completely planning your shopping around said perishables you desire to purchase? Voila! Now you can throw your perishables in said unit after purchase and go continue shopping & make other stops until you are done and want to go home... with your perishables minty-fresh and unspoiled.

PRICELESS.

Thanks for posting your project!
Works surprisingly well for this! Did it over the weekend while running around town. Normally tried to make the last stop the store but was able to just hit everything along the line and get home when we wanted!

I agree on the safety concerns and plan to continue to monitor (like you should always do with everything in life that moves) and find methods to upgrade some of the latches and tie downs. Like I posted before, I find it hard to believe that it will really go anywhere in any small collision. Possibly in a catastrophic end over end it could be an issue.

I felt like this was safer, a better use of the stock mounting points and better than the sliders that were there from the factory. Trying to mount the fridge or other items (I am a photographer as well) with just the 4 tie down spots and slider rails just wasn't going to cut it and would be difficult to work around when loading other bags and cargo.

Traded in the vehicle and need to get rid of the tracks and 8 ring tie downs.

System works amazingly well, was tested multiple times and even had an emergency braking/maneuver situation where not only was an ARB 37qt fridge strapped down but so was a 50# tool box and luggage. Nothing moved.

Direct replacement for your stock slider tracks in the cargo compartment.

Custom ordered and original cost nearly $250. Looking to get $175 OBO. Let me know if you are interested. Can also take more pictures if necessary.
