Grill Mesh/ Screen- Update

Thinking of replacing my stock grill plastic "mesh" and lower front bumper screen with the black diamond cut from Ablaze. I've attached a picture from Ablaze showing the upper and lower pieces I'm interested in, and a picture of the front of my black Overland. Does anyone think the lower screen may look cleaner if I ask Ablaze to raise the height so the screen is level with the left and right plastic bumper pieces? I've tried to draw a red line on my photo to show what I mean. I go back and forth about whether this mod will look better than stock. I really don't mind the grill plastic as much as I do the bottom piece, but feel like I should do both or none. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Re: Grill Opinions Needed

I agree the cheap plastic on the bottom bothers me more than the grill.

I would do both. I think their stuff looks like good quality, so I would think the grill would start looking cheaper. Plus I just have to have stuff match.

Re: Grill Opinions Needed

FWIW in regard to the JGC grille, I think that there is room for improvement to both those upper & lower sections, as I am considering doing this as well.

In doing some research on this, it is my opinion that the Ablaze grilles are some of the best that you could buy... Real metal in real finishes and Made in America.
Plus, JG members get discount pricing as well.

Depending on the color of your Jeep & what look you're going for...
Whether black or chrome & diamond cut or mesh, this mod upgrade is way better than the stock plastic and will really set a JGC apart from others.

With all mods, I always say that it's in the "eye & wallet of the beholder" and for my eye & money... I will call David at Ablaze when I'm ready.

dslide,
I would definitely do both upper & lower to get the 'most' out of this mod.
As far as the custom height raising for the lower, I think that you just might be creating a new problem in that you may be 'calling too much attention to this lower area' of the Jeep front that is not really needed.
Not to mention what this customization would cost extra or do to mounting easily?
So, No... IMO I think the cleaner look will come from Ablaze's stock lower section.

Hey, Good Luck & keep us posted with the finished pics!

Re: Grill Opinions Needed

Thanks for the comments. I am only a short drive from Ablaze so I met David to look at a few options. Must say his work is even more impressive when you see it in person. I've added a picture above showing what the diamond cut, gloss black looks like when held against the lower bumper. After seeing in person I've decided on the semi-gloss black, and asked him to do the diamond cut but vertically (similar to the stock pattern but smaller) instead of horizontally. I'm also going with the standard height down below and not looking to customize and make it taller. Should have it done and installed within the next couple weeks- I'll post finished pictures. David's a really good guy and I recommend anyone interested in this mod check out his page in the vendor section here. Peace.

Re: Grill Opinions Needed

I'd only make the change to the grille mesh if the diamond shape was the exact shape, thickness, angles, and size as stock and I could have it all painted brilliant black to match.

Re: Grill Opinions Needed

Yeah, I've been going back and forth about the size of the pattern. David showed me a new pattern he has that is almost identical to the stock plastic, but I'm gonna give the other a shot because it looked really good in person. We shall see.
