Halogen fog light replacement

I'm going to be upgrading my hi/low beams sometime this week to Silverstar Ultras. I've ran them in my last 4 vehicles and have been very happy with the light output, never had a single one burn out either.

This is however my first vehicle with fog lights. I've read in other posts about the HID conversion and needing to remove the front bumper to do the swap, does anyone know if this is the case for swapping out the halogen bulbs too or is there an easier way?

I'm not planning on putting HIDs in, just a 'whiter' bulb.

I will as soon as someone lets me know if I have to remove the bumper to get to them! lol. Owners manual says you don't need to but I don't see how unless I'm overlooking something.

Through the hole with the removable plastic piece?

i think thats for the head light if i'm not mistaken unless theres one lower down near the fog light, i have really looked at it. However the Foglight also is a weird bulb number and isn't easily replaceable by silverstar bulbs from what ive read else where

Oh, lovely. I just assumed there would have been something out by now. Guess I'll have to dig a little deeper..

Halogen performance bulbs are typically more of a cosmetic upgrade than a functional one given that they operate on the same wattage as your stock bulbs. I would not suggest going with higher wattage bulbs either as these bulbs burn hotter and can damage your vehicle. However, I actually have the Putco Jet Yellow halogen bulbs installed in my fogs and absolutely love them! Even though they are rated at the same wattage as the stock fog lights I find the yellow light output VERY helpful in rain and fog.

If you are considering upgrading your fogs with an HID kit take a look at this very helpful DIY guide:

I did it. It hurt like hell but it's done. I used an white 18 led bulb http://www.ebay.com/itm/150612133708?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 Behind the front of the wheel well at the bottom there is a clip you have to turn. Then stick your hand up through the whole and find the fog light. Unplug the fog light. Pinch the clips together and pull the light straight back. The hard part is putting the light back in. You are going to have to look up through the bottom to see how the slots line up. Push the light in until it clicks. Plug the light back in. Finished. I don't like this bulb because it is too blue compared to the headlights. I should have used a yellow bulb http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOKY...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33680eb5ed but I wanted the whole front end to be silver, chrome and clear. If i get the energy I might switch it later. Hope this helps. Will add pictures later.

Hey,

Unfortunately not. We have had JG members install the Putco 3157 Nova LED bulbs for DRL.

Steve
That's even better. Thanks. I might have to wait until spring for the bulbs to save up cash. I will be getting Weather Tec digital fit mats soon most likely though since Winter is almost here. I need to decide on the best color mats for the the dark frost beige / light frost beige interior. I will save this thread on my computer so I have these numbers whenever I do get around to getting the bulbs though. Sounds like a good mod.

I replaced my fogs with HIDs from xenon depot. I used the 4300 K Volt kit. I removed the bumper which was pretty easy. To install I cut the old pig tails off and soldered the correct ones on. When I get on a computer I will check it out for the correct pig tail. Instal was simple I over complicated it for myself but figured it out on the end. The lights are so bright I can't remember last time I used the highs. No problems with them blinding on coming drivers at all. Over all very happy with them.
