Hand Hold/Grip Issue

My wife has become partially handicapped and has a hard time getting into our 2012. The hand grip has been moved from the position it was in our 2005. The new position is too high and too far back for her to reach. The interior is so slick there is nothing for her to hold onto.

Does anyone know of a grip handle I can mount to the window post for her to hold onto? Is there a problem with putting screws into the window column? Could I damage wiring, roof drain, etc.

I often wondering this myself is someone could blend the wk pillars with the wk2 pillars together creating a replacement pillar with the grab handle as my mother has a hard time getting in but was alot easier in my original wk.

Re: Hand Hold/Grip Issue

Got one of these for my Mother-in-law. http://www.amazon.com/Handybar-Auto-.../dp/B000LX0LS2

She swore it was a waste of money but after using it for a week was telling all her friends they needed one.

Re: Hand Hold/Grip Issue

Can anyone answer eVictor54's question about the advisability of drilling into the windshield column to install a handle? What's all going on behind the plastic covering?

My wife is 5' tall and finds the overhead handle is not helpful in entering the Jeep. The windshield pillar handle would be ideal for her. These other products are interesting, but not really the best solution for most people.

Re: Hand Hold/Grip Issue

Ernest -

saw your post on the Jeep forum re wanting a grab handle for your wife to get in and out of your Grand Cherokee. My wife has the same problem. Have you found a solution?
