PS (Man, these are the best! There's nothing like them).
PPS (Day 1; dealer delivered to me. Day 2 will be to delete those resonators and hear that HEMI)!
I took an Explorer sport for a test drive before I bought the Jeep. For the life of me I couldn't get comfortable in that thing. And it felt really big inside. My wife commented to me that I looked like a 6 year old in the seat of a Kenworth

And no matter what I did I could'nt get my left arm to reach the door panel or the arm rest. So I held the wheel which I know we're "supposed" to do but.... Drove like a large lumbering beast and I don't really need a third row seat. But I sure would like to meet the engineer who designed that fold flat system. Pretty slick.

The jeep is waaaay more fun to drive.

I wasn't able to tell what the seats were like on a 5min test drive, but I thought the truck was nice and decided to purchase it. On the ride home my fiancÚ and I both started to comment on how stiff and uncomfortable the seats are. We decided maybe we needed to try to get used to them. I spent a number of hours playing with the seat in my driveway trying every postion with the lumbar ect. to no avail. Well, 3 days later I could no longer bare to drive it because It caused me so much back and leg pain. Just the thought of having to sit in it for more then 15mins made me uncomfortable. I have an hour commute to work And can not bare to make the drive in this vehicle. So, I went to the dealer on the third day and explained my situation about the seats and tried to make arrangements to return it (only had 500mi on it and was bought with 160mi on it) based on buyers remorse. The dealer was not receptive to us at all and only offered to whole sale the car which would leave me 8k in the hole. Now, I'm stuck with a 50k dollar truck that I cant drive. It has been sitting in my garage now since the beginning of December.
Btw this is my 5th Grand Cherokee and have never had problems with the seats before. I'm probably going to have to put the truck up for sale or trade it in for a huge loss. I've never gone through so much stress over a new car before, and the way Chrysler and jeep have delt with it has been awful.
That's a shame NJ. I must have read 20 + different reviews and came across a couple or so that mentioned that the seats were on the firm side. So naturally when I took a test drive I paid close attention. More so due to the fact that I was leaving a Lexus GX which had very soft seats and more of a softer ride. My Summit has apparently softer foam than the Overland according to a post on here someplace.

And I agree, the seats are not nearly as soft as I was used to but after a few trips I was used to them. I picked mine up on a Wednesday and was on a 300K road trip the following day. No issues. It seems to be a very individual type of thing. At least on this forum anyway.

Have you considered talking to an Auto upholstery shop in your area? If you can find a good local guy you might be really pleased with the results. Can't hurt.

I actually started looking at cars because the seats in my 2011 Cadillac CTS sedan are uncomfortable. I was also interested in a better sound system, larger vehicle, and better infotainment system.

I didn’t actually drive them, but I went to the dealership and sat in both the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit and the 2015 Chrysler 300 S. I didn't notice the seats of the Summit as being particularly bad, but I was in the 300 last and I do remember thinking how amazing the seats in the 300 were.

I wonder if my opinion of the 300 comfort level came from trying the Jeep first?

Re: Hard driver's seat

That could be. I would "expect" the 300 to more comfortable. I've never sat in one but cars tend to be on the softer side. Friends of our have 3 of the 300C and no complaints about the seats what so ever.

Friend of mine rented a Durango and said the seats were awfully hard. He took it back and grabbed a Ford escape or the next model up and loved it.

Who knows what the answer is.

I feel sorry for NJ up the thread with a truck sitting in the garage for a month that he can't drive due to the firmness of the seats.

I'm sure Chrysler people monitor this forum as well. Maybe something will get them to start asking questions

Tried it. Can't get used to the high perch. Feels like I'd go thru the windshield if I hit the brakes. And truck-like.
Down & back feels much sportier.

Re: Hard driver's seat

I have to say that my seats on the Summit are quite comfortable. Granted, I haven't tested them for several hours in a row as of yet but I don't have any complaints.

I'm curious what (and if) we will see either on MY16 or - more likely - on the all-new MY18 in regards to seating. After all, even on a luxury-trim like the Summit, the adjustments are pretty basic.

Since my second car is a Lincoln with a lease expiring in December, I'm already looking for a potential replacement so I'm checking out what they will be offering - and the optional seats on the upcoming 2016 MKX show what would be possible for Jeep as well:

22-way power-adjustment (including headrest), massage-function, adjustable thigh bolsters and seat bolsters that inflate when passengers enter the vehicle and deflate when they leave.

wow. sorry to hear that. i find seat in my '15 summit to be very comfortable. a little on the firm side, but that's fine. since it has a zillion way adjustments, perhaps that's the issue? i still can't figure out the lumbar support adjustment - will read manual later.

Re: Hard driver's seat

I know everyone is different but i can't believe the complaints about the seats being too hard. I think they are great and I don't have a lot of padding on my butt or elsewhere. I'd like to have these seats in my living room, they are that comfortable to my wife and me.

That's true - but rember that Lincolns come with a 4(!)-year warranty..

Anyway, you NEVER want to own a modern vehicle like a Grand Cherokee without warranty - that's for sure. Even on the current GC...the basic seats might very well hold up - but what about the air-suspension?

That's another reason why I simply LOVE to lease...

Re: Hard driver's seat

I do like the seats however, they are a bit on the hard side. The firm seats can be a bit of a pain on long drives. However over time they will still look good and hold up well. They are built to last and maybe in time soften up.
