Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

Would like to paint it black using Plasti-Dip.
Did you guys remove the individual letters and paint or just covered the surrounding area and sprayed on the vehicle?

Re: Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

I just taped the area and dipped the whole thing. Much easier and it came out great.

Re: Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

Just tape a little closer than your rectangle in the original picture. Do several light coats. Very light in the beginning. Let it dry 15+ min between coats.

It won't stick to the chrome very well.. I sanded with gasket sander n used spray gun n still scratches off...

Did you let it cure over a few days in the sun?

Re: Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

From experience, I can tell you plasti-dip sticks very well to the chrome. I have done my front grill, hood emblem, rear badges, and rear brow (2011). No problem sticking, and no sanding necessary. Just clean it well. It looks like LovetoLaunch is painting, not plasti-dip, unless they came out with a late 80's gold trim color.

Re: Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

Lots of great input, I'll be fine now.
Got that "Performix 11212 Plasti Dip Enhancer Glossifier" as well, mainly for the taillight chrome black-out, I want that portion black and a bit glossy, fun work!

instead of this...

Re: Hatch chrome Jeep decal Plasti-Dip

Just finished doing my front jeep emblem in black plastidip with a couple gloss coats after. It turned out really well and I plan on doing the rest of the chrome the sameImageUploadedByJeepGarage1405635551.523163.jpg
