Headlight aiming question 2015 Overland

This is a question about aiming the headlights on a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland with the bi-xenon HID lights.

I've searched the internet and YouTube, but have been unable to come up with any answers.

My dealer recently replaced both headlight assemblies under warranty due to lens degradation. Now the headlights shine way too high. I'm constantly getting flashed by other drivers, including pick-up truck drivers, so I know they're too high.

I took it to the dealer today to have them lowered, but the dealer states there's no adjustment and they're fine. He also had it parked about 5 feet from a wall and said this is how they always adjust headlights. I seriously question my dealer's competence in this matter. When I pressed them for a better answer (I wasn't letting them off the hook that easily) the service manager said they would contact someone at Chrysler and get an answer.

The lights do cycle down, then back up when I start the engine, but i don't think they are auto leveling properly. Also, when I use the brights, I don't see any further down the road, just higher up in the trees.

I read somewhere that these lights have to be adjusted through the computer some way, but again, the dealer was clueless on this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, there is adjustment.

You should have an oval shaped hole on top of the plastic cover that allows a Phillips screwdriver (IIRC) to pass through, at the back of the headlight there is a screw that will adjust it up and down.

Of course your lights have self levellers as well...

There is a pdf of it online somewhere, I think on the other site that I used to adjust mine

It also has instructions for adjusting them, and you have to park way way further than 5 feet from a wall...

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there is no hole in the cover, nor is there any kind of adjustment screw that I can find. I even took the covers off so I could look around the headlight housing.

Do you remember what site you were on that had the pdf instructions?

That's helpful. Thanks.

My dealer called today and they got a non definitive somewhat confusing answer back from Chrysler. They're trying to get more detailed info and a better description on how to aim the lights.

They're going to give me a free loner to drive while they have my Jeep and they at least seem sincere in trying to get this problem resolved.

We shall see' Keeping my fingers crossed. Will update when I know more.

Mine has 1 adjuster down a hole, it's quite obvious to see for each headlight (same hole as previous post's picture). However, looking down that hole at the allen head with philips slot, there is a clear arrow in the plastic next to it with an R and L. I decided to turn it back and forth, while watching the headlight, and low and behold...the headlight clearly moved UP and DOWN, so obviously it stands for Raise and Lower, not Right and Left as I presumed.
Pics to follow...

Location of hole on driver's side...

Long #2 phillips screwdriver in adjuster, ready to turn...

Looking down hole (the adjuster is about 6 inches down)...

Close up of hole with gold adjuster screw 6" down (I drew in a little arrow and R/L to show where it is on the plastic)...

THANK YOU Driver Dave! Those were the clearest pictures I've seen of the adjuster location. And sure enough, that's exactly where mine were too. :D Long philips screwdriver and a couple minutes work, and I'm back in business. I knew there had to be a mechanical adjustment, but it's been like pulling hen's teeth to get an answer. This is the third forum I've tried.

I guess I'll have to go educate my dealer on their location :( cause he sure couldn't find them and tried to tell me they were non adjustable. I guess in fairness though, they were willing to have a go at adjusting them and didn't completely blow me off, so I'll cut them some slack. Kind of surprised none of the mechanics knew that though.

I agree. Need to adjust my driver side. Thanks for the helpful information.

Do the Jeep headlights have a firm "stop" for max leveling or lowering? THe reason I ask is that I had past cars where the adjustment was so cheap that if you hit a "limit" a plastic tab or something would break and then the adjustment knob was broken and the light aim messed up permanently. I'm just curious how careful and slow I need to go when turning the screw.

They drive me crazy every time the Jeep is close to a wall. The left one doesnt show
on the wall and the right is perfectly
level. I tried to adjust with the screw mechanism that requires a very long phillips and it never would work.
Dealer then told me to leave them alone
because they form a "A.A.I.M.B." I said "Oh an Ayeemuhbuhh" As if I has a clue...."Auto adjusting Interlocking matri Beam". I asked him if it had Photon Torpedo capability as well and he said "check the manual"...... ( "At a certain distance, the two beams come together to form a more efficient field of elumination dictated by the outside lighting conditiins. The on board brain (Not Me) auto adjusts them
for optimal performance")
