Headlights to go with blacked out grille

Hey guys,

So my WK2 is finally all blacked out- side door panels, door trim, rear brow, taillights, grille, and Jeep emblem on the hood. I have been looking at my headlights now, because I think they would look better if they were either tinted or if the inside of the lights were painted black to match the grille. What are some things I could do in this situation? I'd like to stay away from Mopar's blacked out headlights, seeing they are over 200$. Any ideas?

CTOWN

Re: Headlights to go with blacked out grille

I am in the same predicament, I would prefer to paint the inside housing. I have heard that these headlights are a lot different than other headlights. I have done many headlights in my day and all have been put together with an rtv type adhesive. But these use an epoxy which may be a problem when trying to separate the lens from the housing. Can any one confirm this?

I actually "bit the bullet" a month ago and I bought the blacked out headlights off of mopar. They look good! Not installed in the Jeep yet, but they look good out of the box.

What did you use to tint your tails?

[QUOTE=simpslel;1152386]What did you use to tint your tails?

I got the taillights done professionally...didn't do them myself- just paid for the stuff. The tint spray is called Nite Shade...my taillights have 3 coats applied to them (honestly a little on the dark side...I kinda wish I only did 2 coats) After that, 3 coats of automotive clear coat was applied. Finally, the lights were baked in a paint booth for like 30-40 mins I believe but don't quote me on that since I didn't do it!

This is what the spray looks like that I bought:
