HID Install, Help Needed

Greetings,

I just installed my Xenon Depot HID kit into my 14' Grand Cherokee which seemed very straight forward at first. However, after testing the lights with the switch with the car off, I start the car and noticed the headlights now come on and stay on all the time, even if I turn the switch to the off position. I also noticed when I use a turn signal, the headlight now turns off. In addition, my daytime running lights are now not working. It's like somehow my headlights are now functioning as if they are DRL's. Is this a sign that I might have reversed the polarity on the OEM headlight connector?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

T.

What you just said describes the daytime running lights functioning properly... When the blinker comes on the drl on that side will shut off until the blinker stops. I believe the xenondepot kit comes with a separate harness for each side so the drl should still function correctly. Do they stay on even in park? If so you have a issue. Otherwise it sounds normal.

Yes, I have the CANBUS fix and relay pack both installed. The CANBUS is plugged in-line right after the bulb itself followed by the ballast and relay.

Also, yes...they will come on as soon as I take the car out of park. So it definitely appears they are mirroring the DRL.

Re: HID Install, Help Needed

The problem is my headlights are functioning as my DRL. The come on as soon as I put my car in gear and cannot be turned off with switch while in drive. Also, my headlights will switch off when I use my turn signals, and my original DRLs are no longer working.

That's because your headlights are used as your daytime running lights... That is how they work.

So your telling me the OEM projector headlight always stays on and turns off when you activate the blinkers? I was under the impression the DRL are next to the projector. How come when I pull the DRL fuse it doesn't effect the headlights?

So what's the point in having a headlight switch if they are always supposed to be on?

No, the drl turns off when you use the blinkers, of you have the headlights on they won't turn off when the blinkers are used however. They use the low beams at a reduced voltage. I honestly don't now what that fuse does, I never did figure it out, I just had the dealer shut off the drl's to prevent any problems with the hid's I was going to install.

Re: HID Install, Help Needed

Click settings on the Uconnect. Under one of the sub menus there is an option to disable drl's.

Hope you have everything resolved. It does sound like everything is working as it should though.
