Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

I contacted TRS (The Retrofit Source) and they have mopar specific kits for our vehicles. But you (VPExhaust) say you're having issues as only 1 light is working? Did you figure that out yet?

Did you get the full H11: Morimoto Elite HID kit? Seems like it's got all we need and it's really good price. Just curious.

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

I have their Mopar specific harness for H11. Harness only.

I am going to call today to see what the fix is. I tried multiple ground locations, new ballasts, new bulbs, both L and R independently. Still, only one light will ignite, the first that I plug in.

I also plugged a halogen bulb and the HID directly into the passenger side factory harness to see if this was getting power. Halogen was fine, HID didn't light.

I reinstalled the two halogen bulbs and have no issues.

I was going to buy this once we signed the lease for the GC, did they sort it out for you? Did you turn off the DRL in the touch screen menu?

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

Jeep_Addicted and The Retrofit Source were both very helpful. It's raining and the Jeep is outside. I don't feel like playing with it today I'll likely do it tomorrow and report back.

TRS asked for install photos, said its an unusual problem. Jeep_addicted said to try and move the resistor to the driver light factory h11 plug. I ordered a can bus fix from TRS to hedge. I'll give it a go.

My OE Wheels just arrived. 20" matte black limited wheels. 275/55-20 Michelin LTX going on. More distractions...

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

I'm wondering if it has something to do with ballast draw.

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

Are you using a resistor or can bus fix?? You should not have to use a resistor.

Can-Bus instead of the specific mopar harness kit? Their pdf online shows their H13 bi-xenon mopar kit, I assume the H11 only has one output to the ballast and two connections for the control module, one to RH and one to LH with resistor I guess? Good luck! Let us know please, thanks again!

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

The harness has a resistor attached to the factory input wire to the harness.

I bought the can bus fix parts today just in case I can't resolve the issue with the harness.

Re: HID kit for 2014 Cherokee Limited

You shouldn't have to use a resistor. I am personally not a fan of using a resistor unless you have to as they get extremely hot and you have to make sure they are mounted accordingly to avoid causing any damage.

Maybe it's a capacitor or nuclear reactor? Whatever it is, I only have one light working.

I've done install this without removing the front bumbler, there is plenty of clearance.
How was the install without removing the front bumper and grill, care to elaborate and give us some pointers? I am itching to make the change but not very excited on having to remove the bumper for I do not know any local mechanics and will have no help in doing so if i decide to tackle the removal on my own.
Thanks.
