You have me wondering if I did a smart move with the hids. I had installed. Morimoto 50watt ballast 5500k bulbs.

Well if they don't have any issues then no problem , i think i will install 55w next time i didn't install first becuz people were sayin that they are too bright and will harm drivers coming in front but a friend of mine installed 55w hids on ford Taurus no one complain becuz it has projectors.

At first I thought the same thing. I leveled the beam out, so now it'll shine across the license play of the vehicle in front.

@marty Thanks for the pricing info, I appreciate it. My Altitude is a lease and @antsjeep warning resonated a little too much lol. @ant, Could you recommended any halogen bulbs that offer better visibility over stock?

Re: Hid/ Led kit 15-altitude

I say talk to your dealer first. I spoke with someone on maintenance before I had hids installed. So long as it's a clean install that I would be fine. They have issues when shops cut wires and leave a mess. Someone that does it right will use a name brand ballast and not something cheap. Cheap stuff always comes back to bite us in the ass. It took an hour maybe less to instal. With bumper removal. I wouldn't worry about it, but of course it's your ride. I leased too. I plan on keeping the ride. But then again lately I've been wanting the V8. So I'm not sure what I'll do. Lol. As far as bulbs are concerned, someone did mention some bulbs in the previous page if you want to take a look.

I did post pics. Check the first or second page. If anything I'll upload again. No prob. I have 5500k. They're super white with a tiny hint of blue. Honestly they look like factory hids. But check the previous pages. And let me know.

I would highly recommend Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. They are significantly brighter than the stock bulbs and still maintain factory wattage. At this point they are the only bulbs I will use in my Jeep.

You better get that on writing from your dealer to cover yourself incase. But regardless what your dealer says, as soon as the words "aftermarket" or "non-mopar" comes out of their mouth when they log your truck to create a case, you will be in for a world of hurt.

Also brand names have NO relevance to a dealer. I understand that people on here try to push and promote certain vendors for HIDs and that's fine, but the brand you choose means nothing. If it's not factory installed or a genuine mopar product it will automatically be the first thing blamed, period, end of story.

I've used DDM Tunings kits on family, friends and customers cars for the past 7+ years. And I could count on one hand the amount of times there was an issue. I ran a 6k HID kit for 6 years in my WK with zero problems. As long as you or whoever you choose knows what their doing you should be ok (most of the time). Just remember it's still aftermarket and runs on 12 volts.

I'm just trying to look out for everyone thinking about or who has installed HID on their newer jeeps.

And we appreciate the look out. I thought about the sylvania bulbs. I heard that the lighting was good but they don't last long. I would much rather have done a bulb swap. Because I agree with ant. But I was never really sure. If there's a bulb out there that really does provide better lighting without the need for a kit, I will consider it. I'll take the hit. It's a big hit $420. There has to be something better than sylvania.

Osram Night Breaker Unlimited and Phillips Crystal Vision Ultra I hear are great upgrades over stock as well. I only went with Sylvania because they are readily available at most auto part stores and most big box stores like Walmart.

I have tried a variety of halogens in the fogs and the brightest seem to be the silverstar ultras, they have been in there for 30k miles and no burn outs. They are a little brighter but not dramaticly. Have tried the zxe, diamond vision among others and in the projector fog housing next to the hid headlights they still look yellow no matter what you put in there. If you want white like match to hid you need HID kit or an LED. So the brightest of the yellows are the silverstar ultras in my opinion. There are ones that i have tried that will get you a bluer tint, not really what I want, but not whiter. I'm just going to sit on the silverstar ultras until LED technology improves which it is doing every day. Won't be long before there are a whole new batch of options out there.
