HID "Style" with Halogen Bulbs

Hey guys,

I purchased a 2011 WK2 Laredo X package a few weeks ago. The one feature of the Limited+ trim that I really wanted was the HID headlamps. I love the clean white/bluish light look I think it really makes the vehicle stand apart at night.

Now, I know I could go and purchase the OEM headlamps from the Limited Trim for around $900 plus installation fees. To me, this is just too steep. Alternately, I also do not want to be the guy that puts HID bulbs into a reflector housing and blinds everyone on the road. Plus, it looks tacky.

So, my question: Does anyone have experience installing high end Halogen bulbs to approximate that "HID Look"? I'm really just looking for a bright white/bluish look to replace the standard "yellow" light output on the vehicle. The only product I'm aware of is the Sylvania SilverStar bulb.(http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...ce/Silverstar/). Has anyone installed these? How does it look? I'm assuming it would look just like an HID, only less bright.

I tried the sylvanias and was not impressed at all. They look just like a standard bulb. I went with Putco Nitro Blue bulbs. They have that blueish HID look and are pretty bright for a colored light.

I've just installed Phillips Crystal Vision 9005's & H11's. They are blue coated and look very white when illuminated.

Re: HID "Style" with Halogen Bulbs

they are junk, do not buy them. they burn hotter to achieve that look, but it makes them burn out super quick.

Re: HID "Style" with Halogen Bulbs

Any suggestions then? They seem to be the best to replicate the look?

Bump. Thinking about buying the Phillips Crystal Vision bulbs. Seeing as they are only like $30.00... does it really matter if they burn out quicker? If they look better, I think I'm going to go for it.

Re: HID "Style" with Halogen Bulbs

Phillips CV Ultra are the way to go if not actually doing a complete HID conversion. As for the burning out quicker... everything i have read is that they are good for 5+ years.
