High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

I was just quoted $250 by a large detail shop here on Long Island. Looks like I'll be making an appointment in the coming weeks! 😬

Re: High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

For those of you that have done this, how many pieces and where are the seams for the front doors and back window? Is there a seam where the factory trim has a seam? Or did you try to do one piece?

I just had my HA in for window tint and Expel on the front and I had asked them about wrapping the window trim and they said they could do it in one piece for a bit more money (because of the additional waste) but they thought it would be best to have a seam where the factory one is as it may look bad covering it with a single piece.

Thoughts and experiences?

Who did you go to?

I went to LI Detailers and met the owner Carl. He gave me a tour of the shop and all the cars stored at his place. What impressed me the most was how clean the place was and the amount of high end cars being worked on. I saw a brand new GTR (maroon type color) on a lift being paint corrected and an brand new Carrera being clear bra'd on the lift next to it. Also about 5-8 mint condition early 90's muscle cars including an all original '92 GMC Typhoon with under 6k original miles!!

The SRT jeep that was there had the window trim wrapped by him last year. It looked like they pieced the vinyl together under each door mirror, at the original chrome seams and I think one additional spot by the rear window. I was pretty impressed with the way it came out and only if you stared at it you would notice the joints/overlaps. He also told me there would be a lifetime warranty on the work, so if it ever peeled or whatever the case it would be fixed at no charge.

After read posts here and other sites, $250 seems about average. Granted the shop I went to only works on high end performance and collectibles cars/SUVs. I feel that price is fair.

Re: High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

If you are curious if you will like the look, just cover some of the trim with electrical tape. Its the perfect width for the upper trim pieces. Looks surprisingly good.
