High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

I had my window trim wrapped gloss black today at X-treme Graphics & Lettering, Inc. in the Chicago area. I'm happy with the results and can't believe I went this long without doing it. It's a subtle mod, but IMO has a huge effect on the overall look of the Jeep and especially looks good with the front windows tint matched.
Sorry I didn't get the jeep outside for better shots, but this still shows it off pretty good.

Looks great in pics.

Just two questions...

I know you're about as OCD as I am with your car so what are your thoughts on the trim? Can you see any evidence of vinyl up close or does it look like OEM painted trim?

Re: High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

I had mine done last fall..best 80$ you can spend on the jeep in my opinion

If done properly it looks as good as paint

Jeepguy..look around at the local window tint shops..good tint shops will also do vinyl trim wrapping and laminex

Yes you are correct I am pretty OCD so what I'm gonna say about the results to mine should help you out.
So first and foremost I am happy with the results. Is it 100% perfect OEM quality? No, but it's pretty close. Honestly going into it I was expecting a couple minor imperfections because the way the trim is there are areas where it's not possible to get the vinyl tucked underneath the rubber so it all depends on how good the wrapper can trim the vinyl.
Of the couple small imperfections they are in areas that you can't really see standing next to the vehicle. You would have to bend down a little and sort of look up. In other words they were in tough areas to trim and work with the vinyl. Standing next to the vehicle it basically looks as good as paint. If you have your face within a foot of the vinyl is when you can sort of tell it's not OEM, but still acceptable in my mind, especially for the cost. To any person looking at the car it would appear OEM.
Would I recommend it? Yes. The main reason is there really aren't any other options. Having it painted would be fairly expensive, and even that probably wouldn't come out perfectly as it would require extremely good taping skills. Secondly, buying the new OEM black trim would be very expensive and just not feasible as it would require a lot of work, and even the removal of the rear glass from the vehicle....no thanks.

For $200 and two hours of my time I am very happy and would recommend getting it done. Even if something started to peel up eventually the shops owner was real nice and I'm sure he would re-do any part of it whenever I wanted. Since this is the only wrapping I have ever had done it's hard to say if another shop would do better or worse than xtremewraps in Lombard. If anyone local wanted to see mine in person I'm always down to meet up.

Hope this helps.

Re: High Altitude chrome window trim wrapped.

Looks great and I called a place today and they said they wouldn't do it. I would like all the chrome and trivalent chrome wrapped. I bought the HA sight unseen and just kind of assumed it was like the Altitude. (My fault obviously) I still think the vehicle looks awesome with the trivalent, but wish it was all gloss black.

Looks good man. I love the black and white contrast.

I'll be redoing mine real soon but in satin.

Yeah I also talked to a place that pretty much said no and that it cant be done and I'm like ooooook. Next call and the shop said sure 200 bucks when do you want to come in. lol So just try calling another place.
I really like the Trivalent black chrome on the HA and definitely wont be covering that up. I have said this before, but I'm still sticking to the fact that I think the Trivalent chrome adds a touch of class to the HA, but by wrapping the window trim I just eliminated one additional finish that I think clashes and that was the bright chrome window trim. Before that the HA had gloss black, black chrome, and chrome. I'm very happy with the exterior now.

Your's look really good. Do you think that it looks better in photos than in person? In photos, things usually tend to look a little better because you don't get all the detail unless you're taking an up close pic.
