Talking HOW-TO!!! Grand Cherokee Grill Removal WITHOUT TAKE OFF BUMPER-- 2011 2012 2013

Hey guys. This is my first HOW-TO so please excuse the noobness. I removed chrome grill today, without taking off bumper.

THIS PROBABLY WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU GUYS THAT HAVE THE VERTICAL SLATS IN YOUR GRILL, SINCE YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PRY BY THEM.

Here is the youtube link:
2011 2012 2013 Grill removal, WITHOUT TAKING OFF BUMPER!!!!! - YouTube

Sorry for the shitty video, I decided to make it halfway through the removal and phone batt was at 3%. Also, I still haven't figured out how to give myself 4 arms and hands.

I ALSO TAPED OFF MY BUMPER TO PREVENT ANY SCRATCHES.

TOP 4 clips:
Loosen the 4 retention clips on the black horizontal part that connects the grill assembly to the car, USE A FLATHEAD OR BUTTER KNIFE TO PUSH THE CLIPS FROM THE BACK SIDE OR YOU'LL MESS THEM UP!!! The grill assembly will become "loose." This is the part you see my butter knives/screw drivers sitting on.

TOP 6 CLIPS:
Pop out as many of the grill cover clips, on the top side, as you can reach from behind using some sort of tool, flathead, butter knife, etc. THEN begin working the butter knives between the black plastic and chrome grill to pop the rest of the clips. They release pretty easily. YOU'LL WANT TO PRY WITH 2 AT A TIME TO SPREAD OUT THE FORCE!!!

BOTTOM 8 clips:
Grab the bottom corner like I did in the video and pull pretty damn hard. It will hurt your fingers since its sharp, but won't cut you. You have to pull like that to get both the far left and right clips. The other 6 should pop out with the bicycle tire tools. Once you work from one side to the other, and only have the farthest clip left, go ahead and pull out the chrome assembly so the clips are free. This will help it come off easier.

Good luck!!

I think that's just dirt and water spots if I am looking at what you are talking about - the top surface of the chrome that is under the hood.

Re: HOW-TO!!! Grand Cherokee Grill Removal WITHOUT TAKE OFF BUMPER-- 2011 2012 201

Hey everyone, glad it was helpful!! Hahaha I've been traveling for 3.5 years living out of hotel rooms, so my tool selection is slim. Ive done all my mods in hotel parking lots, including plasti-dipping the wheels.

Yea that was soap/water spots, chrome is in great condition. I'm about to use some plastix, from Walmart to restore the faded black plastic on the roof rails.
