Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I think either way looks good. Chrome looks great on some vehicles as does the non-chrome look. I just went from a Summit to a High Altitude and like both, although the Altitude package has always had my heart. I remember a thread where people kept saying chrome is out. Thats not true by any means. There are a lot of new cars that come with a lot of chrome. Even the new Honda Accord (which I think looks great BTW) has chrome accents similar to the Summit. Even has the chrome bar going across the bottom like the Summit. Chrome door handles too.

Chrome vs black chrome/black:

In this case I like the HA look a LOT better, hence the reason I made the switch. Here is my old vs new:

All cleaned up with the front plate removed:

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I have a black cherokee as well, a 2011. I have blacked out the rear brow and will eventually do the grill and mirrors. But I will keep the chrome handles, badging and other accents for a bit of bling. I also did not get black rims recently as I thought it was too much and ordered hyper silver.

All GC's look nice. I want mine a bit different

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I've got a white SRT and I also like the chrome trim. Everyone is blacking out everything and it looks kinda cheap to me. I'm also a little ticked that FCA keeps putting SRT parts (headlights, tail lights, etc) on the lesser models because they advertised those as being SRT-exclusive. No wonder when I go to the dealership (for all the recalls) they don't know the difference between a $30K and $70K vehicle.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

To each their own! My buddy has a 14 Overland and the chrome is a great contrast...

I for one do not like all the chrome on my SRT. It makes no sense to me that they would black out most accents (front grill surround, lower valance, tails and rear valance) but leave chrome badging all over the vehicle! Then paint the mirror caps and door handles? IMHO the SRT looks mean with the front all blacked out (pics don't show them, but I have the lower brake duct trims in black waiting to be installed)...and I replaced the rear Jeep badge to PX8 and tinted the lower rear reflectors. Last is the window trim...but I am still on the fence

It is your Jeep, do with as you please!! That is the best part about modding/owning a Jeep...it is YOURS!! Cheers

Do you own a Jeep?

If so, then why would you need to ask, of course you are.

Some folks like chrome, some don't. Suspect nobody who ever saw a '58 Olds has managed to recover and begin liking it again--except possibly me, who is probably far more nuts than you are.

PS. You can buy aftermarket wide white sidewalls to add to your tires...

I must admit those garish chrome grilles on the Wranglers never struck me...

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

No you're not the only one & I like chrome accents as long as it's not overdone. The only place I could do without it on my 15 limited is the lower front fascia. Not sure why this bothers me......

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I also love the chrome contrast. There are a few jeeps here with pics with the black out look which does look nice also. I haven't gravitated to that side yet but I can appreciate their tastes.

You are correct, as far as I know. I have a set of extra black hooks myself for the reason you state above.

From what I've read, having parts chrome plated is really expensive these days. Plus quality is often questionable. Just do your due diligence. Maybe it will be cheaper in the long run having a set of extra black hooks.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I dig the chrome ... I used to have a black Cadillac CTS with chrome trim. I went through a phase of blacking it all out, but I think it took the luxury/classyness away. So I went back to chrome. On the jeep I think the blacked out look is more sleek, and gives it a more sporty look. On my black Summit the only chrome that bothered me was the emblems, so I removed them. Removing the "Grand Cherokee " from the doors made a big difference. I think the WK2s are such a versatile looking vehicle that blacked out or chromed out, they still look good.

Buy what you like, doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, you are the one it needs to please the most. I don't mind some chrome it helps break things up a bit, summit had a little more than I would like but you get used to it and the extra never bothered me enough to change it. I saw one of the new Honda pilots the other day, i think it was a high end 2016 one and it was slathered in more chrome than the summits, or Mercedes those things often swim in chrome. if anything some of these newer platforms coming out seem to have more of it which is a bit surprising. bottom line is chrome is not some fad that's going away, its was on cars when we were born and it will probably still be on them when we die. no right or wrong answer just personnel preference, buy it if you like or if you like blacking out do that but buy and drive what you like.
