Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I personally don't mind it one bit. The "blacked out look" doesn't turn me on at all, but I respect that for some folks, it's the "bee's knees". It's nice to have choices!

I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I think a Brilliant Black Laredo has the right amount of chrome front and sides, but then the JEEP emblem and the Taillight Bezels on the back would look better gloss black, then add a gloss black honeycomb mesh grill insert, and brilliant black fenders and lower facias like the Altitude and Overland has and add black tow hooks and that would be the perfect look. I could see doing that to my High Altitude down the road at some point.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I totally agree that chrome looks good ...but I also LOVE The blacked out look...funny thing is that I went from one extreme to the other...I added a lot of chrome to my 2014 limited ...and then after hanging out here and looking at all the blacked out SRT's and Altitudes I started to become a huge fan of the blacked out look...so now my jeep is totally blacked out ...except for the wheels ...but I have a set of black wheels going on in the spring...

Hey...its all personal preference ...so I say do whatever makes you happy...

Here's what mine looked like from one extreme to the other

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I'm totally liking the chrome.. I think..

I had a black 13 JKU and blacked it out, and loved the look. Now I have a 14 Black Forest Green Overland and like the chrome contrast. I think black trim would take away from particular color, but do like the look on other colors. Now seeing the 75th addition I kinda like the bronze look..

So many decisions.. 🤔

I have been thinking a lot about the chrome vs black debate and keep coming back to what makes me (you) happy!! Here are before and after pics of chrome vs black. I actually like both looks!

Hmmm, I gotta go with the goat behind the left door, Drew. Waaahwhaaawhaaawhaaaa...

Can't really see the signature 7 slot grille on the right--which could just be lighting. Unless you go with a full Vader kit, which looks kewl as hell on an SRT and is highly appropriate.

I don't know....I'd have to go with the blacked out look...looks so clean ... and mean

the chrome is more fitting for the summits and overlands...the SRT is supposed to be "sporty" and tough...which I think translates better with color matched and blacked out trim....

just my .02$

The lighting was not the same in both pics; I will try and get a like-kind image for proper comparison. With the right light, you can see the contrast of the plastic honeycomb and PX8 grille rings...

I have to agree...that is the conclusion I keep coming back to...it just flat out looks MEAN!!

It would not look as good IMO on my buddies 14' Overland (for example) as the contrast looks great and doesn't already have the black accents/trim pieces

JEEP GARAGE MEMBERS:

Please post some before and after pictures here so people can get better ideas of what other models/trims look like after the chrome/de-chrome mods so others can make better educated decisions on what to do

I'll gladly trade my chrome accents for brilliant black accents if anyone is interested

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

Sorry I couldn't respond for several days.......

It's good to know I'm not crazy for liking chrome.

I must add some of the blacked or colored out rigs look phenomenal. I saw an Overland ('15?) the other day that was white with everything else black including the wheels. All of the key badging was white and the minor badging removed, it looked great.

I agree. I ordered Laredo mirrors and swapped out the chrome caps on my Overland for the Crystal Granite painted Laredo mirrors.
