Your not nuts, chrome looks great on black.

It's good to know I'm not crazy for liking chrome.

I must add some of the blacked or colored out rigs look phenomenal. I saw an Overland ('15?) the other day that was white with everything else black including the wheels. All of the key badging was white and the minor badging removed, it looked great.

The chrome mirror caps are HEINOUS! I am sorry, I had to get it out of my system!Whomever designed that part of the look missed the mark. Just my humble opinion, and as others say here, they do like the chrome...so whatever sells.

Thats not true by any means. There are a lot of new cars that come with a lot of chrome. Even the new Honda Accord (which I think looks great BTW) has chrome accents similar to the Summit. Even has the chrome bar going across the bottom like the Summit. Chrome door handles too.

In your case, you have made the right decision from an aesthetic point of view. On a White car, the chrome looks a bit too overwhelming- like a big piece of Jewellery sitting in the parking lot. It begs to be wrapped with a large bow tie like a typical year end holiday special. On darker colors like the grey I have and the black, the chrome provides some contrast and makes the vehicle a little classy which is what the Summit is technically for- those urban city slickers that want to look good driving in town but still hang with the boys on the dirt trail.

I never liked the all black look (deep tinted lights/reflectors/mirrors, blackened this and that) unless you are a certified Ninja and invisibility or law evasion is your preference. On the other hand, if some of that Chrome trim had a Carbon Fiber option then it might work. Curious to see if anyone attempted a 3M option with CF on the larger Summit and HA grills and how it will look.

Well, put it in another light: when folded at the traffic stop, it provides the driver or passenger of the car beside you with a vanity mirror to do a quick hair combing or lipstick application.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I like chrome on a truck, especially with darker colors. I think it goes nicely with the red I chose, as well.

I wouldn't mind having color keyed door handles on my rig, though, only for issues of fingerprints. Chrome requires to much cleaning to keep it looking good on frequently handled surfaces.

Your thread title is "I like the chrome look....am I the only one?"

My answer....
Yes.
I liked the additional options (HID, etc) of the Limited, but disliked the all the chrome too much. Stayed with the Laredo X instead.

No he's not the only one......the blacked out look maybe nice and stealthy for some but not for others.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I prefer the blacked out look or more dull color a la Summit with platinum package. I guess I am not into shiny objects. Chrome looks ok though and to each their own, but I think Jeep really messed up with the chrome mirrors. It just looks gaudy imho. Chrome rims and some trim is ok, but I think sometimes it can be over done.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

Yeah I hear ya,the contrast doesn't bother me though. IMHO the blacked out look like good on the srt and some of the members rides that have posted pics on this forum. Theirs looks really good even though I'm not really into that mod at this point.

You're not the only one who likes the chrome look. I like the chrome look and the blacked out look equally. It was easier for me to stick with the chrome look on my Overland.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I came across this gold chrome SRT a few months ago and decided to take a quick pic with my phone. Clearly Goldmember has taken chrome to a whole new level.

What a wonderful way to ruin a jeep.
