Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

My current and previous black Overlands have/had chrome including the mirrors. I like it.

What I absolutely hate is the new "blackout" trim and wheels that look like someone did a DIY spraypaint job. Black chrome would look great on most colors though.

I will say, the removal of the chrome full side trim & rear door trim (from my previous 2013 to the current 2015) is a better look.

You'd need one silver door for best results.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

Nope EDS you aren't nuts, all to do with personal style/taste,some prefer the de chromed looks, and it looks cool, but equally, some prefer chrome as it sets off their vehicle to their taste and looks equally cool.My old Wrangler(love the old beast,200,000 + miles 2nd clutch, second repaint, third soft top),has me as a regular Magpie! If it shines,I want it.Drives my wife nuts. But my '11 JGC and our newly acquired '15,I think, look great with the chrome trim.My personal preference.
However,on the flip side of that, one of my good friends did the full de chrome thing, and on his black Jeep it looks VERY cool, only thing not blacked out are the SRT rims on it,making the whole thing look unique.(I like the SRT rims and will add a set to my '11).
Carry on with your adding chrome, and I agree with a couple of other posts that the chrome tow hooks will look great.Personal preference.Put your own thumb print/flair and you have what YOU think looks awesome.

There are pictures on Google of a 2010-ish GC SRT blacked out, with powder coated black rims (matte) with only the "SRT" still in chrome. That looks really cool.

I had a black 13 JKU and blacked it out, and loved the look. Now I have a 14 Black Forest Green Overland and like the chrome contrast. I think black trim would take away from particular color, but do like the look on other colors. Now seeing the 75th addition I kinda like the bronze look..

So many decisions.. 🤔

I have the same color and thought about black out (or at least black rims) but I feel like it wouldn't look right

I've been wondering how brushed stainless trim might look. Would work on the window trim but probably not work on the fake chrome plastic pieces.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I'd like to add to the mix here. I've got a 2016 High Altitude and the popular thing to do on these it seems is to black out the bright chrome window trim. It seemed like it might be cool, so I had the trim vinyl wrapped in gloss black and it did look great. I changed the chrome lugs out for black as well. Although the vinyl job was very good, it had a few imperfections, which seems to be the norm, but they bothered me. Something didn't sit right with doing that to a $50,000 vehicle with 3000 miles on it. Eventually it got to the point where I wondered if it didn't look just fine the way that it was. I peeled off the vinyl (it only cost me $100 so no big loss) and changed the lugs back and I have to say I'm liking it back to stock. I also noticed that there is a lot of chrome in the interior and looking in the window it really ties together. Maybe the designers did know what they were doing. So I also ask...Am I crazy?

I have to agree with you Stevm65. Blacking out too much on the HA makes it look a bit too much dull and doesn't tie with the inside. The lug and window trim is okay in my opinion.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I'm happy with the look of my HA as it is. With that said, everyone has different taste and when you're spending that kind of money on a vehicle it's entirely up to you as to what you like and what you want to do to personalize it. So do it if you want to and enjoy it.

Re: I like the chrome look....am I the only one?

I like the chrome window trim and shiny lug nuts on my brilliant black HA. I did make all of the trivalent chrome gloss black though. I also added a black and chrome Overland badge (2010 style). Very happy with how it looks especially after the changes I made. It's very nice completely stock as well.
