If anyone is interested in DE-Chroming-here's some pics

if you're thinking of DE-Chroming your jeep and are curious what it might look like ...well here you go

I started with the back...then did the sides....last thing is the front...I have the complete SRT body package going on this next...front/rear bumpers/flares etc...so once this is done I will have this thing fully blacked out

I changed the Door Handles/Rear Step/Tail Lights/Bezels/Vinyl Wrapped the Chrome strip around the window and roof rails...Carbon Fiber Caps for the Side Mirrors ..removed all the badges except the rear (installed a black one)

I have a set of silver Spider monkeys going on for the winter ...and then I'll be putting on a set of the black Lexani R-4 wheels...still lots left to do

but here's where I was when i started and where I'm at now :

Looks good. Is your jeep black or a dark blue? You should also black out the blue or whatever color that is on the brake rotors.

What size are the chrome wheels/tires?

Re: If anyone is interested in DE-Chroming-here's some pics

My jeep is "True Blue "...but it looks a LOT darker now that the chrome is blacked out...when I get my new Black Lexani Rims on I will definitely change the blue on the rotors to black...the Blue is too bright

the Chrome Spider Monkeys I have on now are 20x10" rims and the tires are Toyo Proxes ST2 295/45/20"

Which you will be contacting me about if/when they are for sale.

Jeep looks good man I like it. I like how you got rid of the chrome around the windows. Cant remember if you talked about it already or not, but you had that done at a shop or did you do it yourself?

Re: If anyone is interested in DE-Chroming-here's some pics

well.....I offered to put these chrome spider monkeys and tires on my wifes 2015 Durango and she doesn't want them...come spring time I may sell them

I had the chrome around the windows wrapped in gloss black vinyl...along with the roof rails

I had it done at a local tint shop and it was cheap...guy only charged me $200 to do all of it ...and he did a great job

One of my buddies was like "it looks dull now"...lol....the chrome does give it a "BLING" factor but I like the low profile look of the jeep being blacked out now...

Fantastic!! I'd like to white out some chrome on my Summit but that would entail painting.

You could actually wrap the window chrome in white Vinyl instead of black....

Yeah not necessarily. Watch some youtube vids on wrapping parts like ajag said. Infact I have some gloss white wrap showing up today and I am going to experiment with it to see how easy it is to work with and how well the results turn out. I bought a 12x60 roll that was only like 6 bucks shipped and I plan on attempting to wrap my mirror caps. Based on youtube videos if done right the wrap can look as good as professionally painted, and be a fraction of the price....and reversible.

Is removing the rear Jeep badge the same process as all the rest? I've removed all the badges except that one due to the way it's recessed into the body. Where did you find the black one?

Thanks!

Re: If anyone is interested in DE-Chroming-here's some pics

I took some heavy fishing line wrapped around 2 sets of pliers and used that to start cutting the rear badge off...once I get the edge off I just ripped it off ...

They sell the black ones at the dealership...i got mine at Quirk parts

this is it

14-15 Jeep Grand Cherokee BLACK JEEP EMBLEM NAMEPLATE BADGE TAILGATE NEW MOPAR | Genuine Mopar | 5UY60DX8AA

but they sell them on ebay also
